Though she wasn't making contact with him, she still felt his icy stare piercing the back of her skull. And just like that, "I love you."

He finally allowed those precious words slip like silk from his lips as he said what she longed to hear for years on end. The words one could only dream of hearing.

"Do you really, or do you just despise seeing me happy once more?" She spoke as she turned to face him; this time, he was the one to look away, not being able to see the pain emitting from her.

"And why tell me this now? You have everything you could ever want within your grasp, so why go and screw it up for some ordinary nobody?"

But before he could muster an answer, she fled the corridor. As she sprinted out into the gardens to disappear into the darkness, she allowed the salty streams to flow down her cheeks, and as she did so, she let go of the heart necklace. Knowing they wouldn't meet again for quite some time, he looked down at the necklace, observing its engravings. Picking it up by its silver chain, he allowed his voice to crack as he whispered, "You are anything but ordinary, Ellie."
