Two days had gone by since Taehyung arrived, and he got treated reasonably well. Irene often came to check up on him, and Jeongguk also tried his best to make him feel comfortable.

However, although his room was gorgeous, he felt like an animal in a cage. Jeongguk told him that if he wanted to go outside, he had to tell him or Irene so they would not be worried about his whereabouts.

He understood where they were coming from, but at the same time, he wasn't a pup anymore. He could fend for himself, maybe not by fighting, but with words.

He decided to take a relaxing bath and put on some new clothes to explore the palace a little.

After he had a relaxing bath with some oils on top of the shelf, he put on the clothes a maid brought for him in the morning.

The black robe with golden details made him look like a member of the royal family, and the scent of the detergent covered his naturally fruity scent.

He did not want to admit it, but no matter how hard he tried to fit in, his remarkably different scent would always expose him to the wolves of the North.

He fixed his hair and reluctantly opened the heavy door to his chamber, peeking out into the hallway. It was silent except for the quiet crackling of the torches that lined the walls, so he reluctantly stepped out and closed the door behind him. He decided to go left, knowing that the Hall of Ymir was situated at the end of the corridor to his right.

The windows let the sunlight in; this was the first day that the clouds did not shield the warm rays away from earth.

He eventually reached two heavy doors, hesitantly grabbing the iron handle of the first one. He opened it, and the scent of old books and withered wood immediately engulfed him.

He walked into the gigantic library, mesmerized by the many books on the shelves, the intricate golden titles shimmering in the light from the windows.

He gently caressed the back of one, feeling the cold and worn-out leather beneath his fingertips.

"So you are a fan of reading?" a voice chimed in, startling Taehyung.

The omega turned around with a hand on his heart; his eyes widened in fear.

A tall male with brown hair stood at the entrance, smiling at him. "I am sorry, I did not mean to scare you."

Taehyung inhaled deeply, his hand still on his heart. "It is all right. I did not hear the door opening. This is a library, after all."

"The royal one," the male stated, carefully walking closer. "Only the royal family and a selected few have the permission to enter."

Taehyung gasped, immediately retracting his hand from the book. "I am sorry, I did not know-"

"You are a member of a royal family, aren't you?" the other male asked, slightly tilting his head.
