“You should be fine Ms. Phillips being that it was just a graze to your side.” The nurse said to her while looking over her clipboard.

“When will I be able to leave then?” Dira asked as she laid in the hospital bed.

“Very soon, but until then we need you here to ensure you don’t get an infection or anything of that sort. Until then sit tight.” she said as she wrote down a few things then eventually leaving the room. Dira was still in shock of what happened yesterday.

She sat there alone as tears start to form in her eyes thinking of how quickly things are turning for the worse in her life. She was fed up of all the misfortunes that seem to be happening in a domino effect. Now all of a sudden she felt alone, the one friend she really had has become her enemy. Her dad turn her back to her and her grandma past away a few years back. We wouldn’t even want to get started on her absent mom. Then the one guy that promise to take care of her is abusive, possessive and controlling.

The only hope she had right now is Vic, “I bought you some Snappers” he said while entering the room interrupting her thoughts. “I was going to get McDonald’s but im tired of that shit. I think I eat it too much.” He said while handing her food.

“Thanks” she said dryly.

“You good?” he asked taking a seat next to the bed and taking a sip of his lemonade.

“Please tell me that is a rhetorical question.” She said in a smart tone taking out her food out of the bag.

“My bad, well when will you be able to leave because we have things to get done.” He said changing the subject.

“Soon.”

“Soon like whe...” Vic started to question until two detectives walked inside of the room making him cease his questions.

“Good afternoon” the first detective announced walking into the room then giving a Vic a slight nod.

“Imma be in the lobby.” Vic said closing his food and getting up to head to the lobby.

“We meet again Miss Phillips.” Detective Grump said taking a seat where Vic sat.

“Look man, I was buying a smoothie at Bayside and it happened while my back was turn. I didn’t see who did it.” Dira said with an attitude closing her food and rest in on a table next to the bed.

“Do you have en..”

“No” she said sternly clasping her hands together. “Now look is that all? Because I can’t answer no questions I don’t really have the answer to.” She said looking away from the detectives.

They both looked at each other then back at her “No, that is all for today.” Detective Grump said getting up and reaching into his pocket. “I will be giving you a call soon Miss Phillips but here’s my card just in case you need me.” he said handing her the card.

She knew it was either Teresa or Latisse to pull the trigger but she didn’t want to be the one to turn them in especially her ex best friend because she knew at the end of it all this was all her fault. She blamed herself for all the malice that was formed at her. Therefore, the guilt wouldn’t allow her to snitch on neither of them.

Dira put her hand up and slightly shook her head refusing to take the card. “Okay Miss Phillips,” he said stuffing the card in his shirt pocket. “I will be calling you.” He said then walking out of the room.

Once they left she reached over to her purse to look for her Samsung forgetting she left it home to see if Ty called her yet. But just as she opened her purse to see that she didn’t have it he bussed through the door.
