Invisible

Hello! Sorry I haven't updated sooner. I have been busy with home but I am back!

Here is another kind of cheesy love song for the two. It's my words but honestly, it's kind of trash if it can't be used here so :/

Words in italics are the song.

Julie slid onto the piano bench, lifting the lid off the keys and taking a deep breath. The studio was empty and it made her feel lonely, the guys usually adding a cheerful atmosphere, and she almost decided to leave. But then she remembered why she left in the first place and began playing the keys softly.

but i can't shake this feeling
it's not just my imagination and
you'd see i needed you the most
but its underwhelming
if all i ever get is your ghost
i guess i was invisible

She's going to let you take a guess for who the song is about.

Julie took another deep breath, lifting her foot off the pedal before she began chasing the keys along the piano, trying to show how much emotion she felt through one simple love song.

She was so lost in thought she didn't notice Luke poof in.

Playing the outro for the chorus, she jumped when she saw Luke hovering over the piano, slamming a couple of mixed notes on the keyboard that didn't exactly help lighten the mood.

"Luke! God, don't scare me like that!" She replied shakily.

"Sorry Jules," he apologized, leaning over the edge of the piano to look at the lyrics Julie had scrawled onto a piece of lined paper. She quickly snatched it from his gaze, standing up and heading for the door.

"Jules wait! I'm sorry, I just wanted to know what you were playing! It sounded really good and I've never heard it before so I wanted to see if I could help," Luke said, placing a hand on her shoulder.

"I can write and finish songs on my own, you know," Julie sighed, but her lips curled into a smile at the compliments.

"I know, so why don't you perform it for me," Luke offered.

"You just saw me playing and it's a duet, so it will sound weird if I sing both parts," Julie dismissed him, her hand on the handle to the door.

"I'll sing them then."

Julie whipped around to face Luke, and she couldn't contain how shocked she was.

"What?"

She cringed at how it sounded, and she saw how his eyes glazed over, his grin disappearing.

"I don't have to if you don't want me to-"

"No!" Julie shouted, wanting to keep the smile on his face. "No, it's fine."

Luke's grin quickly returned and he jogged over to the bench and Julie carefully placed the sheet of music back on the stand. She placed her hands on the keys, and continued the melody.

you say that we're just friends
like i could care any less
i've waited for you to say something
dancing around the inevitable
wishing i could hold you close
but you always show nothing

you can break my heart in two
and see what that does for you

but i can't shake this feeling
it's not just my imagination and
you'd see i needed you the most
but its underwhelming
if all i ever get is your ghost
i guess i was invisible

She paused to take a breath, playing the intro to the verse, and she could see how Luke looked at her, his eyes shining. His voice sent a shiver down her spine when he sang the next part.

you say we play pretend
but it's obvious they'll be nothing left
if you decide to wait for me to say something
all our friends are holding their breath
and are parents are placing their bets
but clearly we still say nothing

cause i'm telling the truth
is it worth it after all that we've been through

cause i can't shake this feeling
i want to this to be real but
i can't give you what you need the most
and i know that you're hurting
cause all you'll ever get is my ghost
all i'll ever be is invisible

Julie had been dreading this. It was the bridge, and it kind of meant a lot, specifically because it was the heart and soul of the song. She was worried they would stumble or the harmony would sound wrong, but they jumped right in, not skipping a beat.

would you look beyond surface
and tell me that you need this
i've waited all my life
would you try to stay focused
so i can confess my love
before i have to say goodbye

Julie smiled before quietly singing the last chorus.

cause i can't shake this feeling (feeling)
i need this to be real so you can
know i always needed you the most

She slammed the keys as Luke quickly joined in, but not before he slipped his hand into hers.

and i know that we're not perfect (perfect)
i promise i'll give you more that just a ghost(oh)
cause i won't always be invisible

The last notes faded out and Julie turn towards Luke, who's smile rivaled her own. She let a quiet giggle.

"What are you thinking?" She whispered, leaning her forehead onto his own.

"About how much I want to kiss you right now," he replied and she didn't stop him from planting his lips on hers.

She smiled into the kiss, relieved that he felt the same way, that she got that off her chest, and how everything just felt right. It was her first kiss after all, and kissing a ghost hadn't been on her bucket list originally.

But that didn't mean she wouldn't make room for it.

Sorry that this was a little short. I wanted to do a cute and short one today so of course, a song and a kiss were on the list.

THANK YOU!
