Flower Gleam and Glow

So this is going to be a combined idea for a oneshot from @lizy_ivana and @Juke_Varchie64. Thank you so much!

There are some spoilers ahead, but I don't think they are that big...just read at your own risk!

Julie snuggled into the cushions of the couch, pulling a blanket over her legs. It was movie night and she got to pick one of her all time favorites: Tangled.

Carlos and her dad were in the kitchen making snacks while the boys were cleaning up the studio, punishment for the heart attack they gave her when she woke up this morning. She had promised they could watch the movie when they were finished, but it's been almost two hours and no sign of them.

"I call sitting next to Julie!" Carlos shrieked before plopping down beside her, spilling a few kernels.

"Hey!"

"Don't play rough. You could get hurt," Ray says, taking a seat in a armchair facing the screen.

Julie hits play and Flynn Rider's voice already entrances her in the story. The title card shows and she's so captured in the music that she doesn't notice the boys poof in.

"Julie?" Reggie whispers in her ear and she jumps, bumping Carlos.

"Sorry," she whispers before standing up and walking to the kitchen, boys following behind her. 

All three leaned against the counters, giving her matching puppy dog eyes and she tried her hardest not to smile.

"You guys can't keep scaring me. They might see you!" She whisper-shouted.

"We're sorry Jules. We finished early and wanted to see what you were watching. Is it Disney?" Alex asked.

"Yes. It's about Rapunzel. Disney took it from the story by the Brothers Grimm."

"Disney really knows how to to turn hardcore sob stories into family movies don't they?"

"They do," Julie smiled at Reggie who's eyes went wide.

"Can I watch? We didn't get to see a ton of movies like that back then. It looks really cool."

"Of course. Just be quiet?"

The boys nodded in agreement before settling on the floor on front of the couch, eyes fixed on the screen. Her father and Carlos eventually fell asleep, so Julie slowly slipped herself out from under the blankets and sat down beside Luke, leaning into his shoulder. He carefully wrapped an arm around her and she let a soft sigh.

Reggie was focused on the screen, letting soft chuckles whenever he saw Maximus and Pascal interact. All of the boys let out gasps of disbelief when Flynn revealed he was actually Eugene Fitzherbert while Julie sat there drinking in their reactions. It was funny how she got to experience other people enjoy a movie she grew up loving.

Her father had woken up towards the end, startling them all, but he offered to take Carlos to bed and warned her not to stay up too late. She nodded in agreement before turning back to the screen, where Flynn and Rapunzel were sharing their last kiss.

She turned around to grab the remote as the credits rolled in but Luke was faster, standing up and waving it just out of her reach.

"Luke! Give it back!" She whispered loudly, afraid to wake her brother back up.

"Luke, come on. We have to rest anyways," Alex tried to reason, but Luke shot him a sideways glance.

"Not yet," he said, his gaze drifting back to Julie. "I need one last thing."

Alex and Reggie sent him confused looks but Julie smirked before planting a kiss on his cheek, feeling bold.

Luke was stunned and she quickly took the remote and turned off the TV.

"Goodnight guys," she smiled before running up the stairs.

Luke still stood there stunned and Alex just groaned in annoyance.

"A kiss? Really Patterson?"

"I meant a hug.." he said sheepishly.

"Uh-huh. First time?"

Luke only nodded, his hand over the place where she kissed him, a small spot close to his lips.

He had really meant a hug, but he gladly accepted the kiss, selfishly wishing she had actually kissed him on the lips. He wondered if she had kissed other people, if she had other people in her life that she had loved. The thought crushed him and it felt like tiny needles were stabbing into his heart. He wanted to keep her safe, her body pressed against his, away from all the dangers in the world, away from people that weren't him. 

But he also respected and looked up to her, so he knew no matter how hard he might feel the need to save her, she was her own person with dreams and ideas he couldn't interfere with. Whether she also dreamt about him at night was a mystery, but he never wanted to force something on her. He wanted her to be happy.

He loved her, and that meant giving in to the pain sometimes.

"Practice is going to be awesome tomorrow," Alex huffed, the sarcasm clear in his voice.

"I thought it was romantic," Reggie piped in.

"Thanks Reg," Luke smiled before giving Alex a playful death glare which he gratefully returned.

"I love you guys!" Reggie exclaimed, wrapping his arms around their shoulders and leading them down to the garage, the stars slowly appearing.

"Love you too Reg."
