'wait! can we just talk about this? preferably without the punching or kicking... WAIT!'
6 months before, New York, 7AM
I was laying in my bed with my eyes still closed, searching for my phone to turn off my alarm. After a few seconds of searching, I felt the shape of my phone and pushed the snooze button so that the annoying sound would stop.
-"Just a few more minutes"- I thought. I was on my way back to sleep before my phone made noice again. this time it wasn't my alarm going off, but the sound of someone calling me.
"ughhhh ... I just want a quiet morning, is that too much to ask?" I whined out loud before opening my eyes to see who was calling me. I took my phone and saw that it was my dad calling me. '..huh, strange? I haven't heard of him in a while and now he calls me at 7 in the morning.' I hesitated for a moment but picked up anyway.
- Dad? what's so urgent you have to call at 7 in the morning? - I put on a nagging voice.
- YN, can't a dad miss his kid?
- um, yes? but you're not really a 'normal' dad, are you?
- you have a point there kid, but I really miss you. I would like you to visit the tower again, preferably today.
- I don't know Dad, can't we just get a coffee or something?
- Oh, that's a great idea! bring me a black coffee when you come to the tower. I'll see you within 3 hours, love you!
- wai- What? no that's not what I meant I-
* beep sound *
'Aaaand he hung up. great." I sighed.
Today is not going to go how I hoped it would go. But on the bright side, it's been a while since I've seen my dad, it's going to feel good to see him again and the others.
It is no longer worthwhile to get some sleep, so I get out of bed and stretch. I make my way to the bathroom and place my hand on the mirror, causing a kind of blue virtual circle to form in it.
^ good morning YN, it looks like you've had a good night's sleep but I recommend sleeping a little longer next time ^ a female voice spoke from the mirror.
'Thanks, June...didn't know that yet' i replied sarcastically.
^Otherwise, you are in perfect health condition. It seems that Mr. Stark asked for a visit, would you like me to arrange a car to take you to the tower? ^ June spoke again.
'No that is not necessary. I think I'll get there myself. ' I said as I get further ready for the day.
A few minutes later, I finish getting ready and make my way to the kitchen. I just want a simple breakfast so I grab cereal and fill a bowl. When I open the refrigerator to grab some milk, I notice that I have run out it.
"...Great. June can you order me new groceries?" I say as I close the refrigerator.
^ No problem YN, but of course, you can easily go to the store now, there is one next to the building. It would go faster. ^ June responds
"Uhm, since when did you get an attitude?" I reply while eating my dry cereal.
^ YN. you programmed me. you should already know the answer to that question ^ June answered.
"hmm right, I'm starting to regret giving you a self-updating personality." I said with my mouth full of cereal.
after a while and a few arguments with June later, I grab my coat and the keys to my car before step out the door of my penthouse and close it behind me. When I get into the elevator I get a notification on my phone. I looked at what it was, and of course, it was my dad, to make sure I didn't forget to come ... and that I don't forget his coffee. I can't help but laugh a little at the message, I can practically hear him say it.
The lift goes all the way down to the garage. The advantage of being the daughter of THE Tony Stark? I can use his cars that he no longer has interests in. and that includes a few pretty cool ones. I made my way to my personal favorite: an orange Audi R8, although I did love his Porsche slightly more, but the bastard sold it.
As I got into the car, I made a request to June to have 2 coffees delivered to the Tower before I arrived. The ride there was no more than 20 minutes. Sometimes I do think of visiting, but the circumstances are not - let's say - good.
When I arrived I saw a delivery car behind me, I walked up to him and took the coffees and tipped him off. I walked back towards the tower and took a deep breath before opening the door.
° Hello Ms. Stark, we were looking forward to your visit ° Friday's voice heard through the building.
"It feels good to hear that, do you know where I can find my father?" I asked Friday.
°Mr. Stark is now in his workroom, would you like me to inform the other of your visit?° Friday asked.
'uh, no, that's not necessary. I don't intend to stay long anyway but thanks. "I answered quickly before making my way to my father.
The glass wall of the room made it possible for me to see him before I entered. I couldn't help but laugh when I saw him test what looked like a new prototype. The thing flew in all directions...including mine.
'Oh, shit!' I said before dodging the thing that quickly after had made a hole in the glass wall next to me.
'Is this how you greet your daughter after 3 months? Not so nice dad... not so nice. ' I grinned as I made my way over to give him a hug.
'well, that's what you get when you make me wait so long for a visit that I almost have to force you to come back' he replied, which made me feel a little bad.
'I'm sorry before I knew it, it had been 3 months ... I've brought you your coffee though, as a peace gesture' I responded with a smile while handing him the coffee.'
'.. you're forgiven, but don't get into the habit of not speaking to me for so long,' he answered, rubbing his hand over my head.
'I promise. But uhm, what was that thing that you just catapulted towards my head?' I asked curiously.
'That my dear daughter, is or better should be an energy-efficient lock-on tracker, but the thing just doesn't want to stay in place.' he said while he grabbed the thing of the ground
'Can I have a look?' I asked as I took it out of his hands.
'Of course, let's see if you really are a Stark" - he grinned.
I looked at the thing and decided to see how it was programmed so I hooked it up to one of the computers. It didn't take long for me to figure out what had gone wrong in my dad's programming. I even saw a proud look on his face as I explained what had gone wrong.
'What can I say, you are getting old, I laughed while making the new and better program.
'Excuse me? remember that this YOUNG man's brain made it so that you can now do these things. " he said, gestured to his brain.
'Don't point out your gray hair, Dad, I can see them anyway,' I replied.
He responded with a very dramatically shocked face. But before he could really say something back, I disconnected the prototype from the computer and tested it.
Not surprisingly it worked.
"You're welcome," I said with a grin.
