Chapter 6:The Arcade

KB and I watch the new couple hold hands and play games together while we eat soft pretzels with cheese and drink our sodas that we got from concessions. "So do you think it'll last? Those two seem really good for each other" KB says with a smile on her face as she sips her Dr.Pepper. I take a bite out of my pretzel and say "I think they will do just fine together, they've loved each other for a long time, I don't think anything can come between them". In my head, I'm thinking about that boy I saw in my history class on Monday and I wonder *Hmm, what is he up to right now? Is he busy?* then I realize *I don't even know this guy anyway so why am I thinking about him?* We continue eating and talking then we notice the lovebirds walking towards the table hand in hand. "You both look cozy together haha," I say as they sit down in front of us. Ali's cheeks turn red "Stahhhhhhpppp!!!" she groans as she hides her face in Chad's chest. He chuckles and rubs his hand through her hair, messing it up. The three of us laugh at her futile attempts of swatting his hand away from her hair, failing every time.

I sit there holding my cup of soda, lost in my thoughts while looking around the arcade from my chair. A few minutes go by, I look over to the front of the building and my eyes open wide in shock to see who was coming through the employee door. It was the same dark-haired, blue-eyed boy I'd been previously thinking about for days since I first bumped into him and the moment we locked eyes in the classroom. He intrigues me a lot but no one has to know that but me (for now, hehe). KB looks at me "What's up with you?" I nod my head toward where I'm looking "wha--oh" she says as her eyes follow where I nod to. In the short time, we've known each other, KB has begun to catch on to the little things that I do, especially when I'm being secretive like now. I give her the look that says "Be right back" to which she nods. I walk up to the concessions stand and wait in line. I notice that there are 3 people ahead of me which doesn't bother me. I just stand there looking at my phone, not paying attention to anything until I hear the most obnoxious voice known to humankind, Tanya Fucking Marshall. *This bitch just does not give up, does she?* I think to myself as I stand there holding the phone for dear life keeping my thoughts to myself. I notice that she is wearing a short skirt and a crop top that makes her look like a cheap hooker making me wanna throw up. She walks away but not without winking at the boy at the counter. The line moves up and I walk to the counter with a 20 dollar bill in my hand and the boy asks "Hi there, what can I get you?" I say "I'll have the Arizona Raspberry tea and the loaded fries" He nods his head and types in the order before saying "That'll be $10.07" I handed him the $20 dollar bill and he takes it with a smile. I study his face and I notice how his eyebrows furrowed when he calculates the amount of change he has to give back to me. I decide to break the ice and say "I'm Sarah. Sarah Walker" as I raise my hand for him to shake. "Aiden. Aiden Roswell" "You come here often?" I internally smack myself upside the head thinking to myself *you stupid stupid girl, why would you say such a thing*(said in a posh British accent because why not?). He looks at me confused then softly chuckles and I couldn't help but giggle softly with him. "You're pretty funny, I like that haha" I smile slightly but then think *sheesh what is this boy doing to me?* "So do I get my change and my food? Haha" His face shows a look of recognition and he immediately handed me the change "Your change is $9.93 and your food will be out here shortly" and he quickly went to prepare the food while I waited in the line because there was no one else behind me.

He comes back to the counter with my food and drink and says "sorry about the wait. Enjoy your food" he hands it to me with the receipt and I say "thank you very much" to which he nods. I start to walk away and I hear him call my name "hey Sarah, Uhm, do you wanna, I don't know, hang out sometime?" He says blushing slightly and rubbing the back of his neck which I find extremely cute. I smile and nod while saying "I'd love to hang out with you, what time?" "How about this Friday at 7 pm?" he says and I nod my head "alright I'll see you then" I say before walking back to my table with a smile. KB sees my smile and looks at me skeptically "Why are you so cheery? What happened over there?" "oh nothing really, just I may have a date," I say. Her eyes bug out and the last thing I hear before covering my ears is "YOU WHAT?!!"
