Todd, a New Friend

When I looked around,I saw that every pet I saw was quiet.When I saw a gray and white cat, I padded over to him and asked," Why is everyone so quiet?" He answered, "The guy who's driving this torture chamber, wants us to by quiet or else he'll take us on the red leash. And pets who get the red leash, never return. My name's Todd, what's your's?" At first, I didn't know if I should tell my real name, but what are the chances? "My name's Cali." Todd said, "Wow, you're the only cat I know that would tell their name. Wanna be friends?" I answered, "Sure, so what now?" He answered, " If I'm your only friend, let's try to break out of here before we get to the pound!" I heard him scream over a bump on the road which made some pets jump. ''What is a pound?" "It's a place where humans invade and take us away," As soon as he said that, I saw a hole in the wire backing of the back of the torture chamber, where everyone was

escaping,trying not to make a sound. I tried to gather attention from Todd, but he was staring at the driver. I grabbed him by the paw and sprinted towered the back. We were the only ones left in there.Suddenly, it started to rain. The torture chamber pushed to a stop. I felt the room jerk up a little bit. I heard a jingling of keys outside. I, only knew what that meant. The enslaver was coming. Todd suddenly got out of his stare and said, " We have to go, now." He led me to the opening in the back, and I saw a deep puddle below. I started to jump when Todd pulled me back. "What are you doing, let's go!" He answered " I cant swim." I said "I'll help you, come on!" I knew he trusted me, because he held on to me. The jingling of the keys were getting closer and I knew we weren't going to make it, so I jumped with Todd holding on to me. As soon as we jumped, the jingling of the keys stopped. When we entered the ice cold water, I doubted we weren't going to be caught. Todd was still gripping onto me. I swam up with almost no strength to spare. When Todd and I came out of the puddle, fog and the chamber was the only thing in sight. I was relieved, until Todd said " Look out!!! I looked behind me and saw a human with a short scratchy beard with over-alls and a faded red and white striped shirt. I backed away with my threatening tail and hissed. Todd did the same. The human attempted to pick me up, managed to, and when I got eye level to his face, I scratched his mouth and bit his hand. He cussed, and threw me against the side of the torture chamber. Todd bit his foot and tore the over-all pant leg. The human kicked Todd and he landed in the bushes. I ran where Todd was and heard the chamber drive away. Todd's eyes were closed, he was just lying there. Everything was becoming blurry and dark. Is this the end of me?
