I was lying in bed asleep when I heard a knock on my bedroom door. Mile came in and shook me fully awake. "Conn wake up wake up" she whispered into my ear. "What is it Mile it's the middle of the night" I replied in a sleepy tone.
"I can't sleep, will you come down stairs with me please?" She said softly. I agreed and got up. She held my hand as we walked down the stairs. We reached the living area of our camp and sat down beside each other.
"I really appreciate this Conn, thank you" she said with a smile. She leaned in and kissed me softly on the lips. This was the first time I had ever kissed anyone and I wasn't sure how to react.
I had always wanted to kiss her but never had it in me to try. She pulled away, I thought about it and then did it before I was able to change my mind. I kissed her. She put her arms around my neck and I did the same.
My eyes were closed and I wasn't paying any attention to what was going on around me. I heard a light creak coming from the stairs. We both pulled away from the kiss and there stood Sasha looking at us.
"I heard the two of you come down stairs and followed. I'm so sorry" she blurted out tears welling in her eyes. She fled up the stairs away from us. Before I had time to process what had happened Mile lay her head on my shoulder and began to speak.
"I really like you and have for a long time" she said with a drowsy tone in her voice. I was about to tell her how I felt about her but she was going to sleep now and I decided to just hug her and fall asleep myself.
That morning Sasha tried to avoid us as much as possible. I felt bad for her and so did Mile. Kieran came down the stairs and said"Sasha told me what she saw last night she woke me up". " So I take it you are a couple now" he continued.
Mile and I looked at each other and she said" I suppose so if he's ok with it." "Of course I am, I thought I made that obvious last night" I said with a laugh. "If only Sasha liked me too" he said with a sigh.
I really wanted to tell him how Sasha he just seemed so down felt but I had promised her I would never tell anyone and so had Mile. "Maybe one day it will happen for you and her" said Mile cheerfully.
Kieran left the room and Mile went upstairs. Sasha walked in and sat beside me. "I'm so sorry about last night it's just that I couldn't sleep and was lonely in my room by myself. I didn't intend on that happening" she said quietly.
"It's ok. Accidents happen" I said trying to comfort her. "She really likes you so she does" she continued. "She told me last night" I told her. "I'm happy it worked out for you. I knew all along you liked her" she whispered.
"But I never told a living soul" I replied confused. "I see how you look at her, how you seem happier when she is around and how sad you get when she is" explained Sarah. She stood up and left the room.
"Should I tell Sarah and Kieran how they both feel. I know I promised to keep the secret to myself but I can't stand how sad they are" I thought to myself. I decided its best to keep it to myself for the mean time.
Mile came down stairs. "Come with me" she said. I stood up and followed her. She put her hand in mine and took me out the door to the portals. "Where are you taking... She stopped me in mid speech with a kiss on the lips.
I put my arms around her. It ended after a short time and she hugged me. "I love you" I whispered into her ear. "I feel the same way about you" she replied. We returned to the camp hand in hand
We entered the camp and there stood Kieran, a smile crept across his face. "What were the two of you doing out there" he said with a laugh. "Take a wild guess " I said. "Kissing" he answered. "Well arnt you the smartest Einstein in the bauble head collection" replied Mile.
"Apply cream to the burned area" said Sasha entering the room.
"What time is it" I asked. "Twelve o' clock" replied Kieran. "Oh no, we should be looking for a crystal now not standing here talking" I said. "Subject change Conn, that's typical" said Kieran. "But lets go" he said quickly.
