"Wow, that was amazing! It was such a heartfelt song. Sad, yet warmed up your entire soul!" the girl told Yoongi as she approached him, her fingers touching the curb of the piano and dragging them slightly over the surface, before stopping and smiling at him.
He was taken back, she wasn't going all fangirl on him, yet she praised him for his piano skills, and he felt like he should say something, but he felt muted. He looked at the girl and nodded at her and she turned to leave him there with the piano, before stopping and telling him over her shoulder "Can't wait to hear the next piece you play" and with that, she left, mingling in with the gathered crowd.
Yoongi felt like it was the girl who gathered all that crowd with her enthusiastic clapping rather than his song and exhaled all the nerves he had before putting all his attention back to the piano. This time, he chose a more upbeat song, and every time he did a quick tempo, he felt his heartbeat quicken as well. He got lost in the rhythm and tempo and his thoughts all swirled around the piano and its sounds, and before anything could even appear in his mind, the song was over and the entire room was booming with claps and acclamation for him. He bowed at the crowd before stepping down, feeling a bit too crowded now that everyone was around him, so he decided to get a refreshment.
From the safety of the bar, he started to people watch again, this time his eyes looking for red hair and green dress and it did not take long before he found her. She had a glass of orange juice in her hand and she was walking around aimlessly, sometimes stopping to talk with someone or stare at a piece of art around the room. She never seemed to stay glued to one spot, and people seemed to part to make way for her. Yoongi did not know if it was because they knew her and did not like her, which was highly unlikely as he did not get the impression of a bad person from her, or if she just had that aura of a person whom you felt you could not approach but you could admire from afar. His eyes felt drawn to her and he saw she never looked down, or walked like she owned the place, but she had a way of holding herself which called for respect at least. His body started moving after her before his brain could even understand what was happening, and soon, like a curious cat, he followed the green dragon with fire in its aura.
Soon, they were out on one of the balconies which were over the garden and his eyes went to the view for a second before stopping on her. Like she knew he followed her, she turned and smiled at him, leaning against the balcony and sipped from her orange juice. He stepped next to her, his eyes tuned in to the view, and he thought the silence might feel awkward or suffocating, but the moment she exhaled and relaxed in her posture, he felt a calm wash over him.
The silence was relaxing and he enjoyed it, closing his eyes as he just let the sounds around him surround him, tuning out the annoying ones. After a minute, he heard clothes rustling and found the girl turned around, leaning on her elbows this time and looking out in the garden. Snow mostly, and a patch of plastic flowers to bring some colors in the white blanket, yet she looked at it like it was the most amazing view in the world. To him, she was a puzzle, even without doing anything, but his entire being buzzed like it was intoxicated by her presence. He knew the one glass of champagne he had could not have affected him that bad, so he could only assume it was because of the person next to him.
"Can you actually believe tomorrow will be the last day of this year?" she broke the silence and brought him out of his daze to find her attention turned to the sky above them like she was asking it that question. He shrugged, not really caring another year was going to pass, thoughts going back to his family and friends, but he did not manage to dwell much on them, as soon he felt a warmth near his elbow, and he looked at the outstretched hand in curiosity.
"My friend told me I should do something brave today so I can say I changed something in my routine, so will you do me the honor of dancing with me?" she asked as she curtsied, her hand still turned to him, her palm facing upwards waiting for him to take it. "Just as a fair warning, I do not know how to dance" she grinned at him from under her mask and something compelled him to take her hand.
