Walking through the zoo, you smiled as you followed the map towards the place you had to be at. You finally made it back to Berlin, after so many months and secrecy, to meet your best friend. She screamed into the phone when you told her your flight just touched down in the said city, and you were on your way to your hotel room. Screams and laughs were heard through the phone and she wanted to pick you up, but you wanted to keep her from finding out your little gift for her, so you told her you are tired and wanted to rest as it was late.
Hanging up on her after she accepted your argument, you smiled and turned towards the two people sharing your taxi, and you gave them the thumbs up. No one from your life knew yet who was your soulmate, just that he existed and you were a smiling creature ever since you came back from Tokyo. The paperwork was a nightmare, as your mark was still undocumented, and they asked a ton of questions and tested everything. Of course, the mark reactions were not as extreme as before, when it was just a half-empty circle, but sometimes, it still gave off a flash of red if you parted from each other for long periods of time. Sometimes, there was a pain as well if one of you was sick or angry, but otherwise, nothing else. You were happy the two agents you knew helped you out with everything needed and guided you through the process. His company asked if you could both keep it silent for a while longer, as they prepared their own paperwork and rules now, as they did for each employee that got the mark. Their process was a bit longer for your case as you were not from South Korea and still needed to bring or send copies of documents upon documents.
Yoongi almost did not want to let you leave Tokyo, asking you to follow him to South Korea, but he understood you had your work just as he had his, and while at the moment, it wasn't something you could do forever, you liked it and wanted to continue doing it. The parting was hard, as you told him to let you go to the airport alone, but he wanted to be stubborn and stay with you until it was almost time to leave. Thankfully, you managed to make him understand that it was not safe in broad daylight for him to be seen with you just yet. At least, until every hurdle and paperwork was cleared, it was better for you two to not be seen in public. You understood that when the managers explained it to you, and as much as you knew ARMY would understand, there was always some who would not understand you, and the media would love that.
Coming back alone was a bit saddening, but you kept in touch whenever you both could, talking about work, concerts, free time, and whatnot. It felt better for your heart to hear his voice, but somehow it still felt a bit empty without him by your side. So, a few months later, you got the clear from all fronts. And you knew what you had to. After keeping it such a big secret, you wanted to let Yoongi and your best friend meet face to face. And to see if your theory about her soul mark was correct or not. So you asked Yoongi to bring Jin with him, to the sadness of the maknae who wanted to come as well. You promised him you would go visit them all soon, but you had something else to finish first. Jin was confused but he did not mind traveling to another country, especially after you promised you would pay for both their rooms and food. Unlimited food, at that, and you knew you had him hook, line and sinker.
The moment Yoongi saw you waiting for him at the exit of the airport, away from the crowd of people, he smiled his gummy smile, the one that made you melt from its cuteness, and walked faster, Jin rushing after him to not get lost. The first thing you both did was hug, a bear hug to let the other know how much you missed them. It was long, it was warm, and neither of you wanted to let go. Only Jin coughing and looking at the sky with pink ears made you stop and laugh, and you pointed them at the taxi waiting nearby, letting them know you already settled in at the hotel, and made sure their room was prepared as well.
And now, that you were waving at your best friend as she was waiting at the bridge over the lake, you smiled and ran towards her. While meeting up with Yoongi healed up your entire soul and heart, meeting up with your best friend healed your entire mood, especially after having to keep everything a secret from her, even though you wanted to tell her everything.
"Finally, you let me see your face after so long" is the first thing she says after she lets go, smiling and pinching your arm "Not dreaming, the soulmate finder came to visit me" she laughed as you rubbed the red spot on your arm.
"Well had to finish the paperwork first, and it lasts a long time, and we decided it was best to tell people after that was done." you explained, smiling at her.
"But why the secrecy?" she complained and pouted at you "not like he is a king or anything like that....right?" her tone turned to worry as she looked at you.
"Well...erm, not quite...ha ha ha" you tried not to spill the beans just yet, as you did not reach your designated meeting spot "but you will know why soon." Hearing that, she looked at you, wondering what you meant, but you only shrugged and pointed her the way you had to follow. "Anyway, what about your mark? Any development?" you asked, knowing full well nothing happened and hoping you were right.
"No, not even one petal opened up and it is annoying. Maybe the person was from another country" she sighed as she let her eyes rest on the ground, not caring much for the animals inside the zoo.
"I am sorry. I am sure they will show up. How about we cheer you up with a penguin photo? I do remember how sad you were that you did not take one after finding out Jin was there. It might cheer you up to see the cute penguin statue" you threw the bait and waited patiently until she bit into it, knowing well there was no escape now. As she nodded, you hooked your arm into her elbow as she was taller than you, and you guided her down the path to the penguin, spouting random stuff you did or saw during your business trips.
"Ah Yoongi, look, more petals are opening up" a voice shouted in the distance as you approached the figures standing by the statue, and you both stopped in your path. She was shocked because the voice sounded familiar, and the silhouettes looked familiar, and you stopped to look at the back of her hand. And would you guess it? The petals on her mark were opening as well, revealing a soft pink hue, red lining their edges. It was a beautiful flower, perfect for her beautiful self, inside and out. And it did match Jin as well, now that you thought about it.
"Is that...no, my mind is playing tricks on me, hahaha" she laughed it off, trying to convince herself she was seeing and hearing things.
"Well, how about we go closer and try to figure it out?" you suggested, almost tempted to run away with her in tow to bring her closer to the intended target. She nodded absentmindedly, dragging her feet in anxiety towards the two people by the statue, stopping every time she made a step.
You knew from her expression she was shocked, nervous, anxious, in disbelief, and yet at the same time, tempted, hopeful, and warm. So you let her do this journey at her pace, letting her eyes go from the slowly blossoming flower to the approaching people. Seems like she wasn't the only one who figured out their other half was nearby.
You stepped aside and waited on the edge of the path to see how their first meeting would go, and even though you felt like intruding, you had to make sure the path was clear and no one was going to block their sweet moment.
Your friend was a statue now, her eyes the size of plates, and you think she forgot how to breathe as her cheeks were turning pale, then pink, then exploding in bright red. Her mind was probably trying to work this all out, but had no clue how, and you were not going to help her. She had to figure this out on herself, or with Jin's help. You could only watch as the taller man approached her, his shoulder squared like he was afraid she would disappear if he relaxed even a tiny bit. His frame looked gigantic and ready to engulf her tiny frame whole, but at the same time, he looked ready to protect her from everything, to keep her safe in his arms, close to his heart. It looked sweet, the way his flower marked hand reached for hers, how they both gasped like electricity sparked at the touch. How his eyes seemed to drink her in, to calm down from their anxious approach, and how they softened when he finally touched her hand, his fingers tracing the soft-looking petals. From afar, the marks looked so real, like it grew into their hands, and with every move of their hands, the flowers seemed like they were slightly caressed by the wind. It made you smile, and the moment you saw your friend look up into his eyes and get lost in them, you knew your theory was correct. They belonged together, and you were happy you could witness them finding each other.
Before you could see anything else, you felt a hand close over yours, tight and smug against yours, and you smiled, turning to look at Yoongi, his shoulder a perfect pillow for your head to rest on while you both watched the two newly found soulmates get to know each other through whispered words and soft touches.Your heart was double happy, once for your friend and her happiness, and then for your continued happiness, for the man beside you who seemed to read your mind and look down at you with his gummy smile. You might have missed some markers on the way, get lost a few times, but in the end, you both found each other, and that was all it matters. Just like a red thread, you came undone just for each other to tie yourselves together again, into your own hearts and souls. And you were sure nothing would ever separate you, not now, not ever.
