Word of the fight died quickly, fast enough that Jason didn't end up getting a terrible punishment. Each day, the Hamato family grows closer to their friends and vice versa. The school days fly by, two months passing in a blur.
Nixie and Mitch skate around on the smooth blacktop outside during their spare, and she skids to a stop as he does a 360 and skates backwards.
"So, I was thinking..." she starts. "Asher and Lukas were talking about hanging out this weekend. What if we all got together at your guys' place?"
Mitch freezes, nearly falling off his skateboard. "Uh...that'd be great, but-"
"But what? Come on, from what you've told me about your parents and relatives, they're awesome!" She laughs.
"Well, my home isn't exactly a house..."
She gets a confused look on her face. "Huh?"
He purses his lips, his baby blue eyes swimming with an indecisive feeling. Finally, he sighs.
"If I tell you something, will you promise not to freak out?" he whispers.
She nods. "Cross my heart, hope to fly, stick a pizza in my eye."
He takes a deep breath, looking around for any spectators. There are none.
"My family lives in the sewers in this decked out lair," he admits.
She raises an eyebrow. "Are you serious?"
"Yeah."
"Why? Can't you buy a house?"
"Well, we're kind of low on funds. It's not ideal for us, but it's our home. Can I just leave it at that? A mystery?"
She shrugs. "Cool. I'd like to see it."
He nearly falls over. "R-really?"
She smirks. "MJ, don't you know me? I'm not judgmental."
"Then yeah, I'll talk to my family and we'll work something out."
"Cool!"
----------
"YOU TOLD NIXIE ABOUT THE LAIR?!" Dean whisper-yells at Mitch.
"She wanted to come over with everyone! I didn't want to lie!" Mitch exclaims.
"You've been lying about who we really are this entire time!" Dakota points out.
"But that's different! She was cool about it!"
Copeland groans and smacks her forehead with her palm. Venus giggles at the action.
"Guys, I told Lukas too," Asher confesses.
"YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE THE SMART ONE!" Dean shouts. Dakota clears her throat, and he grins nervously. "Uh...you and Kota that is."
"Dean, he was cool about it too. I bet if we invited them all over, showed them the place, and just hung out as friends, it'd all be fine." He gives his oldest cousin puppy eyes. "Please try it! How can you know the outcome of an experiment without performing any tests? I need my hypothesis to be proven!"
"He has a point," Dakota says.
"I want Keith to come over! Blake has already seen home, so he's not a problem!" Venus cheers.
Dean looks to each of his cousins and little sister. "Fine. We'll talk to the adults."
They cheer.
----------
"I think it's a fine idea."
"WHAT?!"
Destiny smirks as she looks at each of the turtles' and kids' shocked faces.
"You heard me. I think it'd be nice for them to have a sleepover here," she repeats, flapping her wings.
"Des, honey, are you forgetting this would be co-ed?" Leonardo asks.
"As in girls AND boys?!" Raphael shouts.
"Dad..." Copeland whines.
"Not now, princess. Parents are talking."
"The kids already spilled the beans," Donatello says, looking pointedly at his human nephew and son.
"Spilled beans? I didn't know we had beans around here," Michelangelo comments.
"It's an expression, sweetie," Annalise murmurs, her blonde hair pulled back in a high ponytail.
"I agree with Des. It sounds lovely, and we'll be around the whole time," Sarina says. "Not in the same room, but we'll be in the house."
"And we're ninjas, so we'll know everything." Raph points to his eyes and then at Copeland.
"Dad, Tiki is my best friend. I'm not going to bang him," she huffs.
"AGH! Don't say those words in the same sentence!" he demands.
"Raphie, calm down," Taylor murmurs, rubbing his defined bicep.
He exhales heavily through his nose like an enraged bull. "Ugh...fine."
"We can order pizza and buy junk and everything!" Mikey squeals.
"Dad, you won't join in will you?" Mitch asks. "Not that you aren't cool, but-"
"Nah. Your mom and I will stay in our room." He winks at Annalise, who blushes and punches his arm.
"Hmm...Taylor? We should do the same," Raph growls huskily.
"Ooo, I didn't think of that," Leo murmurs, looking at Destiny and wiggling what would've been his eyebrows.
"EWWWWW!" all the kids groan.
"I don't get it..." Venus whispers to Dean.
"Good. Stay innocent, little sis," he replies, covering her turtle ears and steering her out of the room with his cousins following.
"Thanks again mom, dad, aunties, and uncles!" Dakota calls.
"Thanks!" Asher echoes.
Donnie chuckles. "You're welcome."
Destiny, Annalise, and Taylor all cuff their husbands over the head, making them yelp.
"Do not make sexual innuendos in front of my seven-year-old!" Destiny demands. "Or any of the kids!"
Raph rubs his head with one eye shut, and Sarina laughs, hugging Donnie's neck.
"At least you're silent about it," she mumbles.
He grins. "You won't be silent this weekend."
She blushes and cuffs his head too, making his brothers laugh.
"They may be thirty-six years old, but they're still like fifteen year olds in their minds," Taylor whispers to the other three women.
"I couldn't agree more," Annalise responds.
Destiny and Sarina nod.
"My children, I would've thought your minds would be cleaner at this age!" Splinter cuts in as he enters the kitchen, leaning on his staff.
The turtles laugh sheepishly.
"Hello dad, how was meditation today?" Taylor asks.
The aging rat smiles and nods. "Very well. I see many calm things in our future...somewhat." He hobbles towards the fridge. "I need a cheesicle."
Ice Cream Kitty meows happily and hands him the dessert as he opens the freezer door, the other adults in the room shrugging to each other.
"I think you're right. Our future definitely looks good," Leo agrees.
