"Can't I go with you?" I laugh. "No, it's bad luck." "We're not most couples who need to believe in that stupid superstition. It's us and we'll make it." "No, you're not coming and that's final." "I'd let you come to the tux fitting." "Why so you can screw me in the dressing room?" "Is that such a bad thing?" "Let's get ready to go."
I didn't want to leave him. In fact, I almost texted Chloe to see if he could come. I got dressed in his favorite strapless bra and panty set, and I put on a turquoise floral off the shoulder maxi dress and I wore brown wedge sandals. I did my makeup let my fall down loose and straight on my shoulders and I was good to go.
The house is almost complete, just two more weeks with his study and the den that would be our future family needed to be completed and then we're moving in. "What are you thinking about?" I look at Eric. "I just feel that I'm going to wake up and it'll all be a dream." "It's real, darling. I love you, and you only. You're my entire world. Until we have children then I might have to kick you to the curb." I laugh, "Thanks, asshole." "Only yours."
We part our separate ways after numerous kisses. I called Chloe. "I'm with your mom, and believe it or not Justin's parents came in from Korea and they're helping him out with the babies so she's coming, too." "Great, I'll see you soon I'm two more stoplights and I'm there."
I hung up and I played the song that I keep forgetting to play for Eric, it needs to be our wedding song. The song finished as I pulled up. I see Chloe who was dressed in a white boho style dress with brown moccasins and loads of rings, necklaces, and bangle bracelets. My mother was in a black blazer with a magenta silk blouse and black heels that I guarantee is Jimmy Choo. I see Zoe and I could tell she hit motherhood because was wearing a plain white T-shirt underneath a baggy pair of grey overalls and Adidas sneakers. Her hair was in a messy bun and despite the effort she still looked like she hadn't gotten any sleep.
I find a parking space right near the front of the store and I grab my purse and I get out. I look both ways and then I cross the street. I go over and I hugged them all. "Seriously, Zoe you didn't have to come." "And miss my bridesmaids dress fitting? As if. Besides, I needed a break. My in-laws were willing to help out and that was enough for me. Sorry I don't look anymore decent. I was running late. I just got a total of four hours of sleep last night. All three kids are very colicky. I could die. But I'm so in love with how patient and calm Justin is with them. Especially his parents, they said Justin was just like that when he was a kid. They told me to go and so here I am." "Let's go in."
We go in and when I see something I know it's right. It was this off the shoulder with a beaded bodice, the trail was the perfect length and I loved the rhinestone sash that was with it. "Who's the lucky one getting married?" A woman about my mom's age with short blonde hair and wearing a cream colored pantsuit. "I am." I respond. "Would you like to see this dress?" I nodded. I tell her my size and soon I'm in the dressing room trying it on. I go out to show everyone. "Just one more thing I feel needs added to this dress." She gets the sash that was on the mannequin and she wraps it around my waist. "Now, this cost extra but it's beautiful on you." I can picture myself walking down the aisle, saying "I do." This is happening. This is really happening. "I'll take both."
My friends squealed and my mother cried. "You're so perfect. Now, it's time for your bridesmaids." "Sorry we're late. Did we miss anything— OMG, the dress is gorgeous." Henley exclaimed. Georgiana smiled and agreed. "Well, let's get you guys and my mom dressed."
We went to the bridesmaid section and I gasped. "I need to text Eric our colors will be royal blue and white. I would do black, but that's kinda depressing." Chloe picked up the dress. It was off the shoulder like my dress and was just a bit below the knee in length. "It's a cute dress, but I have post baby weight. I'll look like I'm pregnant again." Chloe rolled her eyes. "You look great, sis don't worry. I got a text from Eric wondering how it was going and realized we hadn't really chosen a color theme for the wedding. I sent him a picture of the bridesmaid dress and asked if royal blue and white was okay and he texted back perfect.
We got our dresses and my mother found a two piece royal blue gown with a chiffon skirt and a glittery square neck top. "I may need to pull out my Manolo's for this."
We left the store and I asked my mom to keep the dress and Zoe asked her to do the same. "We grabbed lunch and Eric texted me that he had a surprise since we're officially moving into our new house next week. "Eric and his surprises." "I can only imagine, you know he spoils you too much." My mother says taking a sip of her iced tea. "He's always been that way. Speaking of which I have to play him our song that I want to dance to at our wedding."
There was silence. "You know you never did pick the date or the venue." Zoe says breaking the silence. "Well, the venue is going to be at this estate that is owned by one of Eric's clients. The client always dreamed of using his grandparents' estate for a wedding venue because his grandparents had been married for seventy-two years. So, it would be like good luck in a sense. And it has a beautiful backyard perfect for the reception. We thought we'd have it on the first of August. It's in Napa Valley." "Can't wait."
I finished lunch with my mom and friends when I got a text from Eric rushing me to come home. "Okay, Eric wants me home now for whatever reason." "Yeah, I just left my in-laws and Justin home with the triplets a little too long, so I better go."
I hugged everyone and went to my car. I was pulling into the rush hour traffic when Eric called me. "Listen, Mister I am just now leaving the restaurant. What are you so eager about?" "I just want you to see what I've got." "Okay, well I'm nineteen minutes from home, do you think you can hold your horses until then?" "Maybe." "Well, you'll have to. When we get home I want to play you our wedding song." "You have that picked out?" "Well, if you like it then yes." "Can't wait to hear it. See you when you get home. Love you." "Love you, too."
I hung up and I thought my brain was playing tricks on me. I thought I heard whimpering in the background, but I could be wrong. I finally pulled into the driveway and standing there with not one, but two Siberian Huskies was Eric. I pulled in front of the garage and I parked. I got out and I put my hands on my hips. "You know you said you dreamed of having one husky not two." "I know, but they were going to put the runt to sleep I couldn't let them do that. I mean look at her precious face. I named her Lola and this one is Charlie." Lola who had a collar with pink and black polka dots came running over to me. I pick her up and smile at her. "You're going to shed a lot aren't you?" As if she understood what I was saying she licked the tip of my nose.
I walked over to Eric and I said. "Now, you're going to help clean this mess. You're going to vacuum, dust, feed, clean up any mess they make. I'll help but I'm not doing it all by myself." "Of course not. So, what do you think?" "We call first thing in the morning to have them fixed." Eric kisses me. "You're the best." I groan. "I can't believe we're doing this." "It'll prepare us for children." "It'll prepare us for something." "C'mon I guess we got to the pet store to get them stuff to survive." "I already planned ahead and did all of that." "They're not sleeping in the bedroom." "They're in their crates with a bed I already have that figured out." "Good." There was silence as Lola licked my face. "Did they eat?" "No." "Then let's feed them."
They put the dogs down and they ran slipping and sliding into the house. Eric and I laughed. I looked at him. "I love you." "In four months time the next phase in our forever will begin." I was about to kiss him when I heard something shatter on the floor. "Two of them?" "What they're cute." "I'll clean and you make them dinner."
