Suga walked happily along the sidewalk as he made his way toward a cute little coffee shop. Daichi had invited him to have coffee, and after not having seen each other for two weeks because of work, Suga wasn't going to miss this opportunity.

Daichi and Suga became friends during their first year of high school through their love of volleyball. And it was around their second when Suga realized he was gay because he had completely fallen head over heels for his best friend.

Suga had always wanted to tell Daichi, but he could never muster up the courage and now five years later, Daichi has a girlfriend and Suga still hasn't told him, obviously.

Once Suga had reached the coffee shop he entered it, hearing the bell ring. He greeted the woman behind the counter before scanning the shop in search of his brunet friend.

"Suga," a voice called out. Suga's head turned, his hazel eyes meeting Daichi's brown ones. A smile etched its way onto Suga's face as he walked toward his best friend, pulling him into a quick hug.

He smelled of cologne, coffee, and some foreign scent. Suga couldn't quite place a finger on the foreign scent but didn't question it as he sat across from Daichi at the table.

Not much had changed in the last two weeks for Daichi, Suga noticed. Appearance-wise, at least. His cropped brown hair was styled, a single strand falling over his forehead. His hands looked rougher than before, however, from all those hours of work.

Suga thought he was truly beautiful no matter what, though. There wasn't a single moment where Suga didn't fall deeper in love with the man in front of him.

"Daichi, it's been a while, hasn't it? You look good." Of course, Suga had meant it a little differently than Daichi thought as the brunet smiled.

"Thanks, you too. It feels like forever since we last talked. What with all the police force has me doing."

Suga nodded in agreement, chuckling lightly, "Who would've thought teaching elementary students would be so taxing?"

Daichi let out a laugh, quieting down after a moment. The pair sat in silence, just enjoying each other's company when Suga noticed a steaming coffee cup to the right of Daichi.

He wondered how long that had been sitting there before he noticed it. Suga wondered who it belonged to, Asahi maybe. It would be nice to see him, but since he moved away for work, Suga hasn't seen him in almost two years.

Suga parted his lips, about to ask who the mug belonged to when a familiar feminine voice filled his ears.

"Oh, hey, Suga. You made it."

Suga's heart dropped at the sound of Aiko Sato's voice; Daichi's girlfriend of three years. Suga did his best to keep his disappointment and sadness hidden as he plastered a smile on his lips.

"Aiko, hi. I-- didn't realize you were here, too," Suga greeted as his eyes followed the woman. It's not that Aiko was ugly, because she surely wasn't.

Her long grey hair cascaded down her back. She was petite and kind, and she had big blue eyes. She always wore a soft expression on her face, one that invited people in. It's just that Suga didn't like that she looked almost identical to him.

Maybe Daichi chose subconsciously, not realizing how similar Suga and Aiko were. It hurt Suga, knowing he wasn't the one making Daichi smile or laugh.

As much as he wanted to leave, he stayed. Daichi is Suga's best friend so it would be a bit awkward if he just up and left.

"So, Suga. What have you been up to?" Aiko asked curiously before taking a sip of her coffee.

Suga just shrugged. He had been hoping it was just going to be he and Daichi, but deep down, he knew that would never happen. Daichi brought Aiko everywhere with him nowadays. It was almost as though Suga had been replaced.

Answering Aiko's question, Suga shifted in his seat. "Not much. I've been a little busy with work... How have things been with you two?"

Daichi smiled. "Good. We just celebrated our three-year anniversary, actually."

Suga gave the couple a forced smile as his heart broke just a little more. Suga wanted Daichi to be happy, but it hurt him that he wasn't the one making that happen.

The trio spent the next hour talking, and on multiple occasions, Suga almost got up and left. With every loving embrace and caring touch between Daichi and Aiko, Suga's heart broke.

How is he supposed to be happy when the man he loves, loves someone else? It's been three years since they got together, so why couldn't he move on? Why couldn't he get rid of this horrible feeling in his stomach as he watched the pair in front of him embrace each other?

Suga had gone home, feeling as though a weight had been lifted off his shoulders. As much as he enjoyed Daichi's company, he was just glad to have gotten out of there.

Slipping off his shoes and hanging up his jacket, Suga went to the kitchen and began making himself something to eat. He hadn't been very hungry while at the coffee shop, but things had changed once he had entered the comfort of his own apartment.

As Suga fixed himself some ramen, he heard his phone ding, meaning he got a text. It was from Hinata. Suga smiled when he saw a selfie of the redhead with Bokuto. Suga keeps in contact with all his old volleyball friends, and sometimes he likes to reminisce on those times.

High school was some of the best times of his life; volleyball has always been something Suga was passionate about. Suga put his phone down before turning to his pot of ramen.
