Author's Note: Couple things; happy late New Year's! I hope it was good for all of you. I got a car, so it was kinda cool. *that means I'm freaking the hell out about it* Also this chapter is 20 pages on Word, so you better fucking enjoy it. I think you will, since we're getting to the big stuff.

ALSO there's a video of Capoeira fighting on the side if you don't know what it is.

Thanks to Kurohana who told me about Capoeira and helped me create Chutar! I think y'all will like her.

Song of the chapter: Weathered by Creed

"Maybe I can't accept the life that's mine. No, I can't accept the life that's mine. Simple living is my desperate cry."

Chapter 3 - Capoeira Fight

Knock, knock, knock

My eyelid twitched but I refused to move and ignored the knocking. My fingers stayed together on my knees as I sat in the middle of my bedroom floor, with the door locked as usual, and tried to find some inner peace. Sometimes I’d do this to relax, and it usually worked, but today it was hopeless. I could still hear everyone through the door. Raiden had come back with the groceries and they made lunch; I could smell it. They were probably coming to offer me food. It did smell good, but I didn’t want to come out of my room again. I didn’t need anything either. I had brought some more alcohol with me when I retreated back to my room and there was a bathroom here.

Knock, knock, knock, “Zak, are you awake?” Kenshi’s voice.

My eyebrows furrowed but I continued to sit absolutely still. Ocean waves, sand beneath my toes, wind flowing through my hair…

“Zak!” Kenshi called. It was pointless; he heard my thoughts, he knew I was awake. “I know you’re in there!” he sang.

Finally I broke. I rolled my eyes and faced the door, wondering if he could tell how angry I was. “Go away!”

“Gosh, well someone’s cranky.” His voice was muffled through the door, but I could hear the smirk on his lips.

“I’m not hungry, go away.” I repeated.

“Good thing no one offered you food, then. Get out here; we need to start training.” He was suddenly serious, showing this wasn’t optional.

Let me guess; Raiden demanded it.

“Yes, he did, now get out here,” he answered my thoughts. God it was annoying sometimes. “You have no idea,” he added.

I bit my lip as a smile threatened to break through. Damn Kenshi and his ability to make me giggle. I stood to my feet and walked over to the door. I didn’t open it, but leaned in close so he could hear me. “Kenshi…will you teach me?”

I practically heard him frown, “No.”

“Then I’m not coming out!” I growled and went back to my area on the floor. Candles were burning around me. The melting wax pooled around them on the plates they sat on. I don’t even thing these things have a scent sometimes; they’re just there for burning. As I leaned down to sniff them I heard Kenshi sigh.

“If I promise to teach you will you come out?”

I grinned, “I would seriously consider it.”

“I’m not promising to teach you until you promise to come out,” he threatened.

I glowered at the door, imagining it was him. God, he was so stubborn. As I stood there thinking, wondering if learning mind reading was worth coming out into the open with these people, I also thought about someone else who could read minds. He was a tribe leader – ugh, I can’t remember his name – but he told me mind reading was more of a curse than a blessing. Being able to read your enemy’s thoughts could be helpful in combat, but what about the ones around you? Everyone you thought you could trust, being able to read their minds, and knowing their true intentions? Would I want to know what everyone is thinking about me? Especially right now when they all seem to hate me; could I bear that? I thought back to when I found out Keanu had betrayed me. Would things have been different if I knew what was happening before it all started? If I knew about the kiss, the plans to overthrow me – any of it…would I be where I am?
