He was moving pretty fast for how much the injury hurt. It was almost as if he sensed the moment Semir walked into the room and found nothing there. His heart prickled and he bent forward sharply. He had to slow down even though he didn't want to, catch his breath and think about what he was going to do next. They would be looking for him even more intensely now than before, maybe he would try going to Anna after all.

He regained his second wind and despite the pain and considerable discomfort in his crocs, he ran on. The city that was slowly dying down was fading from his field of vision as his head spun, but he kept going. He had a clear goal, once this case was solved by his colleagues he was more than sure he would smash Sander's face in for the way he treated him and his friends. Anna was still a long way off, and his strength was slowly leaving him. He can't lose this fight, no. He rolled down the hill, surprised he didn't break his mouth as his legs tangled.Just a little further, at least somewhere he could hide. He looked across the road, no cars were moving, so he slowly crossed it. Luckily, thanks to his original job, he knew enough nooks and crannies to hide in. He chose one of the options before going to Anna, he needed to rest. He slowly sat down on the cool ground, sweating and panting, trying to catch his breath. For a moment he wished he could escape the merry-go-round by either disappearing completely or killing himself.

It would be quiet then, Sander would consider the case closed and his colleagues would mourn for a while but life would go on. Suddenly, Alex swung and slapped himself with all his might until his face cursed. He wanted to chase away the black thoughts because he hasn't been like this for a long time. He had changed and had come a long way since he first joined the police force. He knew all too well that life was not a feather in his cap and even when things were going downhill, you had to keep going.

The feeling of pain subsided in the later hours of the night when the whole world actually fell asleep. Slowly he got up and started in the direction he knew best. Towards Anna's home, the journey was long indeed but the feeling of safety made it shorter at least in his thoughts.

The tired policeman knocked hard on the door. It was clear to him that the way he looked would certainly scare Anna, or rather give him a few slaps for what had happened in the last few days. No one answered, Alex knocked again. This time he heard a tired voice come to answer it.

"Who can be like this at night?" came a tired voice. The woman opened the door and looked at Alex in surprise. , "Alex" she pulled him in and as she held his wrists tightly made him sit up. 'What are you doing here, what do you look like' she scolded him. But one look into his light blue eyes was all she needed. "I'll take care of you here" she said calmly and went to get her first aid kit. Though reluctantly, she put her phone aside to make Alex feel safe. Anna knew very well what was going on, thanks to the information from Jenny and Semir. And the patrols had visited her several times in the beginning.

After Anna nursed him back to health, she sent Alex to rest. He needed to rest to function normally and everything worked out as it should. Anna just silently hoped that everything would be alright and that there would be no repeat of the injustice.

End of the next part, the writing performance is a bit weaker today, however I needed to write it to steady the space a bit and such. Still, even though this chapter is weaker I hope you like it and I'll be glad for the feedback. 🤍⭐
