Bucky and I had been together for nearly a year now. And all though neither of us could see colors, that didn't matter to us. We loved each other and wouldn't let the way we view the world change that.

He loved me and boy did he know how to show it. Within the las year we hadn't been able to keep our hands off of each other. He was a super soldier in more ways than one.

We had been living 'off the grid' as Bucky liked to say, we'd been away from the compound nearly the entire year. He'd make trips now and then but I'd reluctantly stay behind. The only member of the avengers I knew was Tony. But then again, everyone knew Tony.

I'm sure they thought it was strange that Bucky had managed to find his way to a simple 'mortal' like me he'd bring up jokingly.

I could've never imagined how things would have worked out that night we met at the small bar in New York. He offered to buy me a drink and the rest is history. I had known of him, but not much more than that. He wasn't an avenger I had seen on my TV screen too often.

Tomorrow afternoon we were planning to go to the compound, together this time. I would meet all the avengers. Bucky had talked about us possibly moving in to the compound so he could be more active in the team.

"Let's see if they like me first" I said reluctantly.

I loved our little quiet life in the woods together. I was worried about messing things up. I stressed enough when he left to the compound or on missions and left me at home. I couldn't imagine being left alone at a huge compound to worry about his safety. And I ask I got to know the others better, their safety too.

I tended to over think things. Especially when I was worried about things I couldn't control.

Bucky next to me on the couch. "What's on your mind doll" he asked. He always knew when something was up.

"Not much... just thinking"

"About what?"

"What if they don't like me? Why would they even want me there when I'm no help?" I trailed on with rambling thoughts.

"Sweetheart, they'll love you. I know I do"

"I love you too" I weakly smiled. He smiled back.

"Buck..." I said in a more serious tone.

His face fell from the smile. "What's the matter y/n?"

"What happens if you see color and I don't? Will you still love me? Would you want me to let you go be with her?" I asked with tears forming in my eyes.

"What? Where's this coming from doll?" He asked very confused about how the conversation had shifted.

"... please ... just answer" I said weakly.

"Y/n.. baby. You know I love you more than anything. I don't care what the universe things, you are my soulmate." He said confidently.

"I *sigh* love you too buck" I kissed him softly on the cheek. "I'm gonna head to bed... I'm exhausted"

*the next morning*

You woke up and rolled over expecting to see Bucky. But the bed was empty. Confused you slowly woke up and walked to the kitchen.

"Good morning, sweetheart" he said gleefully

"Good morning" you said tiredly.

"Are you ready for our trip?" He smiled

He meant your trip to meet everyone. You were but you weren't at the same time "yup" you said shyly.

It was a 2 hour car ride to the compound. Bucky drove while I spaced out about anything and everything at the same time. His hand rested on my knee. The ride was oddly quiet for the two of us.

When we arrived I got thrown into meeting everyone. I saw tony again and he was pleasant always.

I met Natalia who i knew would become my friend especially if you guys decided to stay here. I made your rounds with everyone.

"I think that's everyone sweetheart" buck said.

"I think you're forgetting someone" I hear

"I'll be damned, it's Steve Rogers" Bucky says.

"How are you buck?" The voice says back

"This is my best friend Steve" Bucky informs me.

I reach out to shake his hand while you meet his eyes and everything looks different.

"... nice to meet you " he says nonchalantly.

"You too." You say apprehensively.
