─── ❝ We couldn't say what we wanted ❞ ───

The current time is 12:56 am and Hyunjae has been tossing around on his bed, trying to sleep.

A lot of things are going inside his head, mostly the guilt because he snapped at his members earlier.

Sighing, he puts on a hoodie and decided to go for a walk. He quietly leaves the sharehouse, not wanting to disturb others.

He let his feet lead the way as he is too invested in his thoughts.

"Hyunjae ?" he turns around after hearing his name. There stands Yina, who seemed like she just went out for drinks with her friends.

The guy just stares at her for a few seconds, before deciding to leave.

He can't be anywhere near her.

"Can we talk ?" Yina catches up with him and holds his arm.

"Sorry." he removes her grip and walks away, this time faster.

Yina watches his broad back as he walks, running her hand through her hair. Not lying, her chest feels so heavy and she could feel her eyes tearing.

No, she's not being the one to back out now.
Not again.

She takes her phone out, dialing Hyunjae's number. To be honest, she doesn't expect him to actually answer.

"Can you at least listen to me ? You don't have to talk."

No answer. Yina swallows her tears, regaining her composure.

"I left without any notice that day because I had to catch my flight to Singapore. My dad sent me to further my studies there. I couldn't say my goodbye to you."

She bitterly chuckles when he is still not talking but she knows for sure, Hyunjae stops his track.

To listen.

"You're the best thing to ever happened during my senior years, Jaehyun. I couldn't say that before. You taught me how to deal with people, how to not let them talk smack about me, how to speak up my opinion, and importantly."

She stops as she feels her tears building up again.

"You taught me what a keeper really meant. I've never felt these emotions, they're new. The day I left, I swore I'll come back here and find you to say all of this. But now you're getting further away from me."

"I.."

"What am I supposed to do then, Jaehyun ? I want to keep you, but you... Am I really nothing to you ?"

"I'm sorry. We can't."

The call ends. Yina is a crying mess, sobbing with no voice in the middle of the empty park. She falls down, crouching with her face buried in her arms.

Why ?

I'm sorry.
