Hi. From now on, I'm going to be adding loads and loads of Shakespeare scripts. I will also make a book - 'To know, or not to know - your personal guide to Shakespeare and his era. You might think Shakespeare is dull, dreary and old-fashioned - but you are wrong. I will also make some modern versions, that may inspire you to read the real stuff.
At the start of each script, I'm going to write a storyline, which may or may not persuade you to have a go at the script. I'm putting on this exact play with my friends, so perhaps you can do the same. For this reason I will also be working on a book called 'How to out on a Shakespeare play.'
Enjoy!As you like it
Orlando is the youngest son of Sir Rowland De Boys. In his fathers will he was left half his inheritance, but his greedy brother, Oliver, let him share nothing. Poor and hungry, he here's about a wrestling contest in the town, with a prize of fifty gold ducats.
Meanwhile, the Duke has banished his brother, Duke Senior. He tried to banish Duke Seniors daughter Rosalind too, but his own daughter, Celia, begged for her to stay as a playmate. The Duke despises Rosalind and searches for the slightest chance to get rid of her.
Celia and Rosalind go to see the wrestling match, where Rosalind falls in love with Orlando. To everyone's surprise, Orlando wins. The Duke asks his name. When he hears who he is he yells "Your father was my sworn enemy. Take the money and GO!!!" Rosalind gives Orlando a gold chain. The Duke sees them talking and charges her with treason. He banishes her.
