It hadn't even been 24 hours yet since 'the incident', as he referred to it in his mind, and he'd already had several crying sessions. Already it was apparent that these would become a part of his daily routine, and he doubted it would ever change now. One thing repetitively kept triggering him - Sirius's stuff was still there. On one hand, he wanted the items gone so he wouldn't think about him as much. But then, to get them gone Sirius would have to be in his room, that'd also only worsen his thoughts.
At roughly midday, he received a message from Peter - another one of his very close friends - inviting him to his house. Unless for some strange reason, Wormtail was only inviting Lupin, then Sirius was probably going to be there too. Whether this was a good or bad thing, Remus couldn't decide.
See, if he could get a chance to get Sirius alone - which had never been an easy thing to do - then he'd be able to talk to him about it. Potentially, they could make up and return to their normal. Then again though, it could also just start another row, which was the last thing that Remus wanted.
A couple of minutes of pondering led him to decide to go - the worst that could happen had already happened, at least that's what he thought. Either something mildly bad would happen, or something excellent would happen. The risk was worth it, and besides he hadn't seen Pettigrew in a while. If something bad were to happen, at least two of his other closest mates would be there for him.
When The Marauders (what they called their friendship group) had all been moving out, they'd begged Peter to rent a place in the apartment, but he was just as stubborn as the rest of them were. He hadn't admitted it at the time, but he had a massive fear of heights, and lifts made him feel unwell. They'd eventually settled on Pete getting a house near the flats the rest resided in.
Once they'd arranged the time - which was in one hour - Remus jogged over to his wardrobe and just pulled out whatever outfit he thought of first. Though he struggled with the top button of his shirt a bit, he managed to change quickly, giving him enough time to do various things. After drinking a cup of hot chocolate - without even spilling any onto his clothes - he brought himself to his bookshelf and got immersed in the world of someone else's imagination. To anyone else, he'd seem perfectly fine, but inside you bet he was still thinking of Sirius, yearning for this all to merely be a ridiculous prank.
Before he knew it, the clock was on two and he had to close his book before he could even finish the last chapter. Brows furrowed, he took the lift to the ground floor of the building and he soon reached the end of a long row of terraced houses. Before he even got a chance to ring the doorbell, two pairs of arms engulfed him in a tight hug. To his dismay, neither belonged to Sirius Black.
"Hey Re!" Greeted the house's owner, grinning, "You okay mate? You don't look too good."
With a chuckle, Remus replied, "Cheers Pete, yeah I'm alright, Sirius here yet?"
Whether it was fortunate or not, Remus couldn't decide, Peter and James simultaneously shook their heads. Once again, way too many possibilities began to race through Lupin's head, but he tried not to concentrate on them. Happy thoughts, happy thoughts Remus, you're with your two best friends, it's nice! He reminded himself, tapping his thigh repetitively through his jeans' pocket.
For a while, the trio just sat at the grey - slightly torn from Peter's pet dog - couch, cracking jokes. Soon though, the inevitable happened. The chime of the doorbell rang through the entire building, Peter put a finger up and ran to the door, welcoming the guest. Of course, when he came back he was joined by Sirius, who was wearing sunglasses as per usual, putting on his confident facade.
As soon as his eyes found Sirius's face, he instantly noticed something. Black lines. Across his pale face, starting from his eyes, Sirius had black lines similar to the shape of a lightning strike. Really, Sirius didn't wear mascara that much. Usually, he only wore it when he was upset, which wasn't the best idea considering soon enough it'd merely run down his face. However, until he cried, ruining the look, the 'better' eyelashes would make him feel much more confident. That was something Remus had learnt within the past few years of being so close with this man.
