Temptation had attempted to prevent him from calling the boy again after the first few failed attempts, but he wasn't going to give up so soon. If Black didn't want him to try and contact him then perhaps he shouldn't have given such a cryptic, hopeful message.
Ring. Ring. Ring.
Innumerous minutes passed by, each call ending with a command of leaving a message after the stupid fucking tone. Well, tesco lady, maybe he didn't bloody want to leave a voicemail. Jaw clenching, he threw the small shitty device at the floor, shouting unintelligible, aggressive sounding words at the object.
Of course Sirius was going to ignore him. That was just what he did. Remus had been ridiculous to have thought otherwise. Ever since he met Sirius, he should've known that he was going to do him wrong. Black hurting him had only been inevitable. In the end, Padfoot was a manipulative idiot, who Remus never should have trusted in the first place.
A guitar interrupted him from his mental session of insulting Sirius, soon a singer joined in with the instrument. Groaning, he crawled over to where the machine lay. In glowing white letters read the name of the man who Remus had just been wishing he'd forget. Really, he hadn't needed to check who it was, the ringtone was enough.
Though the rational side of him scolded him, he couldn't help but press his finger against the green icon. The voice that he had been yearning to hear again for so long was in his ear, speaking. Speaking to him.
"Hey uh, mate, sorry, I was in the shower."
Just hearing that enthralling voice was enough to bring colour to his cheeks. Trying and failing not to stutter, he replied, "Yeah, hi, um, that note."
Black wasn't even speaking yet and Remus could already hear the grin behind the phone, which was even more evident when he ordered, "Meet me at the pub in twenty minutes."
And with that, Sirius's angelic voice was gone and replaced by a short beep.
Unable to decide whether to grin and hug his chest or to hide in the corner and cry, Remus simply stared at the device, as if Sirius was going to reappear, which he didn't. There were countless possibilities, for all he knew he was on death row and Sirius was his executioner. At times it certainly felt like that. Would this merely be another one of those instances? Or maybe Sirius would make him a puppet on his strings once again, perhaps Remus would once again be wrapped around his finger. It could very well just be a pattern, a repetition of their previous 'relationship', if that's what you wanted to call it.
Pacing back and forth, Remus debated not showing up at all. That solution would certainly prevent him from any potential pain. However it would also get rid of the possibile awakening of his seemingly never ending dreadful slumber, shining light into his permanently dark cave. Lupin, a stranded sailor, longed for the presence of his lighthouse, yet he feared what the supposed safety of the land could bring. Would a war ensue within the secure region that he inhabited? Would a hostile tidal wave come and ruin everything?
At any moment, Sirius could sink his dracula teeth into Remus, piercing through him, but never would it be his heart. Undoubtedly, at some point Remus would once again be utterly immobilized, the bloodthirsty Sirius hovering above him. The situation seemed to be quite frequent, maybe Sirius just truly adored making Remus sob his heart out. Sirius hurting him was everything he'd come to expect, he wouldn't be surprised at all if it were to happen again. He seemed to have an awful habit of falling for the worst people.
Seeing as he still had time, he decided to practice one of the many songs that had been stuck in his head, yet to be created. At one point, it'd merely been a small idea of a melody, and now it had transformed into what could very well be a full on tune. Everyone who had heard him suggested he take up gigs, that he'd be great. Nonsense, not only did he not possess the talent for that, he'd never be able to cope with all that spotlight. All eyes on him, it was something out of a nightmare.
