The Move

The day came. The day we had to say goodbye to all our friends and family and move to the other side of the world. I'm thrilled, can you tell?

"Lola, everyones here! Come and say goodbye!"

Mum had invited everyone round before we set off for the airport. Stupid idea seen as it will just upset her for the whole journey and I don't fancy sitting on a plane from London to Singapore then Singapore to Melbourne with a whaling mother by my side. Today just isn't my day.

"Oh Lola, we're going to miss you so much babe!"

"Yeah, real shame you're going to miss all the parties this summer!"

"Don't you mean it's a real shame that I'm leaving, Kate?"

Great. I haven't even left yet and I already feel left out.

My Dad started loading the car with all our bags as I gave my twin brothers, Oscar and Noah, one last hug goodbye. I'm so close to with my brothers, they're like my best friends. As the tears rolled down my cheeks, I quickly jumped into the car before they could see me upset. Everyone was waving goodbye as my Dad reversed the car. It finally felt real. I'm moving to Australia.

I didn't speak the whole car journey. London is 6 hours from where I live. Well... lived. I listened to my music, trying to forget everything.

"We're here!" My Dad yelled.

The airport was packed with happy people ready to jet off on their luxurious summer holidays, and then there was me. Dragging my bags across the floor as we walked over to our check in.

Finally, the 23 hour flight was over. After we picked up our bags and got through security there was another hours drive to our new house. As if I hadn't had enough of travelling by now. Its morning here but all I want to do is sleep.

I stood back looking at our new house.

"Well... What do you think Lola? Nice, huh?"

I had to cheer up at some point so I nodded at mum, silently agreeing with her.

"See Paul! I told you she'd love it!'

I sighed at walked into the house.

"Your room is up the stairs, to the left and straight down the hallway" yelled my Dad.

I followed his instructions and walked into my new room. Its already decorated and furnished. I actually like it. I guess they did a good job.

After unpacking all my things and helping my parents around the house, I decided to take a walk around my new street. I noticed a boy coming towards me.

"Hey, er I'm Luke. You just moved here right?"

"Er yeah I did"

My heart was pounding like crazy. What did he want?

"Wait... You're British?"

"Um, yeah I am..."

"That's awesome. So your name?"

"Oh. I'm Lola"

"It's cool to meet you Lola. I guess you don't know many people round here right?"

"I don't know anyone"

"That sucks. Look, I've gotta go but here is my number. If you're ever bored then come hang with me and my brothers, we're just across the street. See you Lola!"

"um Bye!"

What just happened. I've not even been in Australia 24 hours yet and a random boy has already put his number in my phone.
