As Time Passes By

March 29th 1983

As Jack walks down the street he practices on how to compliment Stella, because he's still new on being in a relationship.

: Damn Stella you look thick as a motherfucker, nope too bold. Ugh!

: Who looks thick as a motherfucker?

: Oh hi, it's just. Stella...
Stella?! What are you doing here ah hahaha.
Awkwardly laughs

: Aww thanks. Well I was waiting here because I miss you already haha ya' know. SoOoo want to get going?

: Oh yeah let's go, so what do you want to do 1st Stell?

: How about we go get coffee 1st?

: Sounds great!!

While ordering their coffees Stella began to talk about the marriage.

: Miss may I get two latte's

: So Jack who are you picking to be your bestman?

: Maybe Toby. Well he's my only friend rather than you so yeah. But we kind off part our ways since high school.

: How 'bout we call him right now I want to learn more about him.

: Okay I don't think I've done something before to piss him off anyways.

Calling Toby's house as Jack remembers it.

Phone rings*

: Hello Smith's family how can I help you?

: Uhm Hi my names Jack can I talk to Toby ma'am?

: Oh can you wait for a second? *Toby! There's somebody in the phone looking for you! * I'm sorry Toby can't answer you.

: Uhm why not ma'am?

: Because he's already dead I'm his mom by the way.

: You can't be joking like that ma'am it's not funny.

: Sorry if that's how I announced my son being deceased, because that's the last wish he gave me when we were still joking around the table now I'm all here alone haha.

: My God. I'm so sorry for your loss ma'am I didn't know. I did not had the chance to talk to him or ask how he was doing because of college If I only knew..

: It's not your fault kid, so why did you call anyways?

: About that ma'am Toby was a great friend and I was hoping to invite him to my wedding as my best man, but I didn't knew it was going to be like this.

: Aww sometimes it's surprising kid but you have to accept it no matter what.

: Yeah, uhm ma'am can I ask how on Toby died but you don't need to answer if you don't feel like it.

: Drugs. (Sighs*) the police said it was about drugs and fraternities. Before he died he talked to about not going to college because he was going to work as a bartender to help me pay I didn't knew it was going to be like this.

I should've been a more responsible mom and been strong for him, but no. He was the one who protected, cared, and loved me more. And then one day I just heard he got shot for not paying his share on the quota per day in the street.

: Don't say that ma'am Toby gave the best pitch that he had but not the right direction he cared for you and believed for the best of both of you.

Toby's mom started breaking down on the phone

: It's going to be alright ma'am Toby is still there for you

She started to calm down and sober up her tears

: Thank you kid I'm so sorry you have to know it this way.

: As you said every single words from the start ma'am it's such a heart shattered but ma'am can you be Toby's substitute I really want to hear more about him.

: I'll think of it kid and congrats on your wedding.

: Thank you ma'am for letting me know, I'll call you again, take care bye!

Stella sipping coffee as she listened to every single thing they were talking about made her eyes teary and all that she wanted to do was give Jack mental support as he takes it all on the time being.

: I'm so sorry babe. Gently hugs Jack*

: It's alright Toby. You're still my best man.
Jack delivered the phrase to the sky

: Jack it's alright not to have a best man there's still your dad and other family members that you can invite with.

: No Stell I'll try to find one I want my family to not look down on me for not having friends. Miss! We're finish thank you for the coffee and wonderful service!

As they walk out coffee shop Stella bumped to Chad. With Stella knowing that she is in a relationship with Jack there is no need to be awkward by the situation.
