Niall comes storming back into the room with a small stack of pictures in his hand. I hope whatever he has, can somewhat help us. As he sets the pictures down on the round table spreading them out I look over at Jacob, his blonde hair casting a shadow across his forehead.
I can't miss the annoyed expression that covers his face, and I know it's caused by me.
Jacob used to love it when I found new things about the cases, however more recently he has hated it, always expressing his emotions, with snarky and hurtful comments. Maybe he's just going through something? I sure wish he would tell me.
I'll ask him about it tonight.
"Lilith, take a look at these.." my attention is now turned toward Niall, who is pointing at the different paintings of women spread among the table.
"These are all the reported missing paintings we have gathered, we don't know if it's all Poisonous Grey who's stealing these paintings but the time frames match up"— I'm astounded by the number of paintings placed on the table.
"So are we really calling him Poisonous Grey?" Jacob scoffs shaking his head.
What is his problem today?
"Yeah, unless you have something better jackass" Niall scoffs back at him. He must be sick of him as well.
Liam looks competently lost with this, and I don't blame him. Looking down at these pictures—I can't seem to put anything together. I look down at the Drowning girl, the most recent painting, why did he choose this one? the painting depicts a Woman under a wave who seems to be calling for help.
Is there a deeper meaning behind this?
"So—Lilith what's on your mind? you seem to be thinking pretty hard" Liam looks up at me from his spot at the table.
"I don't know, I'm just trying to figure out why out of all the paintings he could have stolen he chose this one.
"There has to be something deeper behind it, there's no way he's just aimlessly stealing paintings" I start to shuffle through the papers desperately trying to figure something out, I need something else.
"We need to find more evidence, is there any way we can go to the Art Institute and do an investigation?" I look across the table to Niall.
"I think that I can get us in I just have to make a quick call, it been shut down ever since the painting was stolen so there has to be some evidence left, me and Liam have meetings this afternoon so we won't be able to go with you."
Niall walks over to the phone placed on the small desk in the corner of the room and starts to dial a number.
I walk over to the file cabinet and start to look for any missing painting files, however, all I can think about is the snake tattoo.
Could it really be him?
I haven't seen him since that night and I never planned to, but I can't just blow off the fact that the man that I hooked up with 3 years ago has the same snake tattoo as the person I'm investigating right now.
I can't tell the team about it, what am I supposed to say? 'Oh, this looks like the man I hooked up within a rusty bar bathroom three years ago' sounds great. I never exchanged any personal information with him either, so I don't have anything about him that could help the case.
