My hand was still tingling even though Michael got escorted out of the ward a few minutes ago. That man had an effect on me and I didn't like it. But he was different, not like the other inmates. He was the only one who didn't try to flirt, didn't make any inappropriate comments or tried to "accidentally" touch me. Something deep down inside of me couldn't believe that he had a single criminal bone in his body but at the same time my mind was screaming at me telling me how stupid and naive I was. Michael Scofield was a convicted criminal who robbed a bank with two loaded guns but something simply didn't seem to add up. Fortunately I didn't got the chance to think further about it because another patient required my attention. It was Charles Westmordland. Right away I got the feeling that he was a friendly soul and the cat he carried with him only added to that thought. He was nice and very polite which was also another nice change to all the other macho men who couldn't keep their mouth shut. But for people like him I actually took my time to not only take care of their wounds or illnesses but also to have a conversation with them simply because I knew that even a few minutes of a friendly talk could make someone's day better. Charles got some scratches because he had tried to break up the breakfast fight but nothing major so after cleaning the scratches and putting some bandaids on them, he was already good to go again. The rest of my morning remained quiet and I had some time to get to know my co workers which weren't a lot but they were all pretty nice and it was good to know a few more people besides Sara. For our lunch break, Sara and I left the ward to get some fresh air and eat outside since the sun was shining and being inside all day long could be kind of depressing. After finishing our food, we used the remaining time to get a coffee before Sara showed me around outside and told me everything I needed to know, where I had to go in certain situations, what areas to avoid if there's no urgent reason to be there and which ways were the fastest. Despite all the work-talk we also had quite a lot of fun and were laughing while catching up with each other. I've known Sara for a long time now, we became friends while she was on a vacation and kept in touch ever since. We were walking past one of the outside areas for the inmates when I noticed how quiet my friend became and when I followed her eyes I saw that she was looking directly at Michael Scofield..well she wasn't just looking but rather staring at him. "You got a little drool on your chin", I teased her with a laugh and a grin that grew wider when I saw her flushed expression. "I don't know what you're talking about", Sara answered self defensive which made my grin grow from ear to ear. "Oh come on! There's nothing wrong about thinking he's handsome. He's tall, muscular but not bulky, big blue eyes with a mysterious glow in them", I continued and now gained a laugh from my friend. "Sounds more like you're about to drool. This is your second day and you already have a crush", she teased back and for a moment I looked away from her to glance over at the man we were talking about and happened to look right back at me. It was hard to look away again but somehow I still pulled myself together and looked back at the brunette doctor next to me. "I do not have a crush! He has simply awakened my curiosity. A man with his success, who had never done anything criminal his entire life suddenly decides to rob a bank? People like him don't decide to turn bad overnight if there's so much they'd lose. I mean who would give up a penthouse for a prison cell? Somethings not right and I wanna find out what", I said and gained an amused smile from Sara. "Alright Sherlock Holmes. Enough with your mad conspiracy theories. Sometimes people change, some become good and some become bad and that's it.", she responded but I disagreed with her perspective. Before I could answer to her statement she was already called and had an emergency in the ward so she excused herself after telling me she'd got it covered alone and then rushed back inside. Since I had a few minutes left until my break was over, I stayed outside and closed my eyes while turning my face towards the sun to just stand like that for a moment.
Michael's POV
This was going to be a problem. Handling Sara had been easy, I had her pretty much wrapped around my finger and it was easy to lure her in but with the new doctor, Rachel, I knew from the beginning that it would be a lot harder. Although she also seemed to react to my attempts it was clear that she was a lot more careful. She was curious. I knew that the moment I saw my file opened up on her desk with notes attached to it that weren't about any medical conditions. Everything else on her desk had been nearly put together, the files of the other daily patients neatly put away..everyone but mine. She was young, very young but definitely not naive. She was that kind of woman that asked questions once a topic caught her interest and something told me that she wouldn't stop asking until she got her answer. But I was running out of time and couldn't use someone who started asking questions. It wasn't that I didn't like her. Even after only a second encounter with her there was something that had caught my interest but for my plan I needed someone who could be easily blinded by charming behavior.
