I peeled my eyes open as I inhaled the smell of stale popcorn that filled my living room. I slowly stretched out and sat up, taking in my surroundings. There was popcorn all over the floor, and my small flat screen was flashing the new pepsi commercial across the screen. I sat up on the couch I had fallen asleep on, my vision blurring in the corners as the blood rushed from my head. I shuffled over to my bathroom, frowning as I looked in the mirror. I had fallen asleep with my makeup still on, and my eyeliner was now smudged all over my face. I sighed, turning on the hot water and washing my face over the sink, relaxing slightly as the warm water awoke my senses. After drying my face, I made my way to my room, picking out a cozy outfit consisting of my favorite yoga pants and a Notre Dame hoodie. I went on to brush out my tangled red hair and loosely braid it to the side before heading to the kitchen to make myself breakfast. I walked in to the sound of my phone buzzing on the counter, “Claire calling” flashing on the screen. I reluctantly picked it up, not wanting to socialize this early in the morning. “What do you want?” I groaned. Claire just laughed. “Wow someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed!” “Couch.” I corrected her. “Oh so that’s why you’re so grumpy! Well anyway,” she chattered, “I was wondering if you wanted to go see this new guy performing at Verucchi’s tonight, he’s supposed to be pretty good… plus he’s hot.” I shrugged, “Sure, it’s not like I’ve got any special plans tonight.” “Awesome!” exclaimed Claire, “I’ll see you at 7 then!” We said our goodbyes and hung up. I set my phone back on the counter, deciding to make myself a bowl of Lucky Charms. I ate slowly, savoring the taste of the colorful marshmallows. I had almost finished eating when it hit me. “Shoot, I forgot to text Niall! He’s going to think I hate him!” I scrambled to grab my phone, pulling up Niall’s number and starting a new text.
“Hey, I see you vandalized my orange juice(:”
I set my phone back down, shaking a bit. What if he doesn’t reply? What if he hates me? Questions flew through my mind, and I became really worried. I glanced at the clock. 12:23. So I guess it wasn’t that early. I put my empty cereal bowl in the sink and decided to take and shower and pick out my outfit for tonight. As I walked into my bathroom, my phone buzzed. My heartbeat began to pickup as “Niall” flashed across the screen. I swallowed loudly as I opened the text.
“It was worth it to see your pretty face again”
I felt my heart flutter as I read the words on the screen. He liked me, he really liked me! I quickly replied, not wanting to keep him waiting.
“Aw I’m blushing(:”
After sending the text, I shrugged out of my clothes and hopped into the shower, taking extra time to shampoo by hair completely clean and condition it until it was smooth. I wrapped a pink fluffy towel around myself as I stepped out of the warm shower into the cold bathroom air. After brushing out my long wet hair, I walked into my room and opened my closet, pulling out an old school t-shirt and a pair of baggy grey sweatpants. Satisfied with my comfy outfit, I walked back to my bathroom to put on my makeup for the concert at Verucchi’s. I went with the natural look, applying a bit of powder and a light eye shadow, topping it off with a little bit of mascara to lengthen my eyelashes. Satisfied with how I looked, I picked up my phone to see that Niall had texted me back.
“Hey so I was wondering if you wanted to hang out tonight?”
I smiled and my heart leapt, he wanted to see me again! My smile faltered when I remembered my previous plans with Claire. I couldn’t just blow her off…
“Sure! But uhh I had some plans with my friend at 7, maybe we could do something after?(:”
After sending the text I proceeded to my room to pick out my outfit for tonight. I dug through my closet for a bit until I decided on black leggings and an oversized beige cardigan, paired with my pair of black TOMS. Once my outfit was laid out on my bed, I looked at the clock on my bedside table to see it was already 5:00. I quickly slipped into the outfit and plugged in my curling iron, when my phone buzzed.
“That actually works out perfect, see ya then!”
I couldn’t wait to see Niall again. There was just something about him that made my stomach tingle. I set my phone back down and proceeded to curl my long hair into loose spiral curls. By the time I’d finished it was almost 6:30, so I grabbed my black leather cross body bag and headed out the door.
