Chapter 2 - I Don't Care About Some Potion!

Our O.W.Ls are approaching fast. It's scary, all the pressure of the exams. I mean, sure, we get our end of year exams every year, but O.W.Ls are different. They're so, so important!! Aaaa! I'm going to scream!!

"Y/n? Y/n are you okay?" Remus asked, snapping me out of my daze. I looked up from my book, remembering that I was studying with Remus and Lily in the library. "Oh, yeah. Sorry, I was off in my own world" I laughed. "What? Thinking about Sirius?" Lily smirked. "Merlin's beard Lily!! You of all people should know how I feel about Sirius always asking me out!" I groaned. "Oh it's only a bit of fun, y/n/n!" Lily chuckled. "I'm staying out of this one. You two are very good friends of mine and Sirius is one of my best mates so don't even bother!" Remus said when he noticed the pleading look I was giving him. "If you must know, Evans, I was worrying about our O.W.Ls!" I said in a smug tone. "If I were you, y/l/n, I'd be more worried about the fact the entire school is talking about you." Said the voice of the one and only, James Potter. I gasped very over dramatically "James Potter? In a library?! Someone pinch me! I think I'm dreaming!" I joked. "Oh be quiet, y/n/n!" James laughed. "What did you mean, the whole school talking about me?" I asked, raising an eyebrow. "Oh, I dunno, the fact that everyone is talking about the fact you smelled Sirius in your amortentia in potions yesterday?" James said with his famous smug grin. "Listen here, Potter, I don't care about some potion! I know I'm not attracted to Black and a stupid potion can't change that!!" I yelled. Safe to say, yelling wasn't my smartest choice...

Madam Pince ended up throwing me out of the library. Remus, Lily and James had to stay to study so I just headed back to the common room. When I got there, the common room was almost empty except for Peter and Sirius sitting in the corner. Oh wonderful I thought. "Oh hey there, sweetheart" Sirius called out. I rolled my eyes. "Don't even try it, Black." I huffed. "Hi y/n. How are you?" Peter asked. That boy was always so kind. "Hey Peter, I'm doing pretty good, well other than the fact Madam Pince kicked me out of the library." I laughed. "What happened this time?" Peter laughed with me. "Well, let's just say I might have yelled slightly at James.." I chuckled. Peter and Sirius both laughed. "I'm heading up to my dorm to do some studying. Bye Peter!" I smiled and headed for the stairs. "No bye for me, love?" I heard Sirius say which caused me to roll my eyes. "Bye, Black." I grumbled and ran up the stairs.

I got to my dorm and flopped onto my bed. He's so arrogant! Calling me love and sweetheart, I hate it!! I thought. I got changed into my favourite white tank top and my navy blue jeans. I picked up one of the books I usually read to distract myself, Quidditch through the ages, and began reading. After a while, I got bored. It was maybe 6 o'clock so the library didn't close for another 3 hours and the rest of my friends are all spending as much time in the library as possible for studying. I was bored out of my mind so I made a decision... I was going to talk to Peter and Sirius. Peter, I was fine with talking to. Sirius, not so much. I walked back downstairs and sat down on the couch. "Hey y/n! Want to play some chess with us?" Peter asked. "If that's okay with you, Pete, I'd love to!" I smiled and walked over, completely ignoring the smug grin spread across Sirius' face. Peter and I started playing a match while Sirius sat making faces at us both. Eventually I won the match. "Good job y/n! I'm not exactly the best at chess but you absolutely destroyed me there!" Peter said, laughing a bit. "Yeah, you might have beat Pete, but let's see you try beat me, princess" Sirius said with his usual smirk. He swapped places with Peter and sat across from me at the other side of the board.

Sirius and I played our match. Peter got bored after 10 minutes and said he was going to head to bed. I was almost going to win but Sirius managed to best me at the last second. "No fair!!" I said, laughing slightly. "I think it's very fair, y/n/n. Now, want a rematch? Maybe this time we can make it a little more fun." Sirius had his usual smug grin. "I'm listening.." I spoke hesitantly, it's Sirius Black, wouldn't you be hesitant? "If I win again, you have to go on a date with me. If you win, you get to pick whatever happens." He said as he casually raked a hand through his hair. I sighed "Okay Black, you're on." I huffed. This match was a lot more intense than the last. I was focused on nothing but winning. Sirius kept trying to talk to me but I just told him to stay quiet. Eventually Sirius had his smug grin on his face and he was about to say 'Check Mate'. I smirked slightly and put his King in check. He looked astonished. "I believe that's check mate, Sirius." I said proudly, my smirk only growing. "I- How?!" Sirius sat, his mouth gaping. "Awww, someone thought he was gonna win?" I chuckled. "Okay okay, what did you win?" Sirius sounded defeated as he spoke. "Oh nothing... just in the Great Hall tomorrow morning, you've got an announcement to make." I winked at him as our friends walked in. Lily stared in confusion seeing me sat with Sirius without trying to kill him. Everyone else just walked to their dorms. "Night, Black." I said as I stood up and dragged Lily to our dorm.

As soon as we got into the dorms, Lily turned to me. "And what on earth was that? You and Sirius sitting together?" She sounded so confused. "I got boredddd! I played some chess with Peter then I played a few rounds with Sirius. I won a bet against him and it's going to be perfect!" I chuckled. "Bet? Oh do tell!" Marlene chimed. "You see, Sirius decided that if he won our game, I'd have to go on a date with him. If I won, i could pick my prize. My prize is going to be that Sirius Orion Black shall be announcing to the whole school tomorrow that I not only bested him in chess, but that I'm the superior of us two. Also that I'm much better at planning pranks than he is." I said with a smug grin, flicking my hair to be dramatic. "Brilliant! Absolutely brilliant!!" Marlene laughed, jumping up and hugging me. "Good for you y/n!" Lily chuckled softly. Oh poor Sirius, he doesn't know what he's gotten himself into.
