Chapter 7 - I See The Bad Moon A-Risin'

The song echoed through the halls. Lily and I glanced at one another, knowing this had to be a James special. I started to chuckle and waited for the display... but then Sirius came strutting down the hall alongside James. They then broke out into song and dance, staring right at Lily and I... For Merlin's sake why are these two like this? I thought as James, who was now right in front of us with Sirius at his side, spun Lily around and started dancing with her. Lily, even if she tried not to show it, was clearly enjoying the little display. Me? Yeah no. I had Sirius lifting me up, over his shoulder (thank Merlin I wore trousers and not a skirt today) and he was spinning me around in circles. Honestly, you'd think this idiot would take the hint by now. When the song ended, James had dipped Lily and was grinning down at her, his glasses slipping down to the end of his nose.... and Sirius still had me thrown over his shoulder. "Potter! What the hell was that?" Lily exclaimed, giggling as she did even though she was trying to force it away. James gave her a goofy grin. "Well, my dear Lily Flower, someone told me that actions speak louder than words. So here I am, showing you that I'm serious about you." Lily looked at me when James said that. I just looked away and pretended I had no idea what was going on. Sirius started laughing "So you're telling me that your own idea came and blew up in your face? That's brilliant" I huffed "Hurry up and put me down you royal arsehole" I said. Sirius just smirked at me as he slowly put me down, wrapping his arms around my waist. "Come on, princess. You know we'd look good together." His smirk didn't falter for a second. I just shoved him away from me. "No chance in hell, Sirius. I'd never go out with you." With that, I shoved him off of me and made a B-Line for the library. That was how I always spent my Sundays: pretending to study when really I was just sitting around the library procrastinating.

As I sat, pretending to read through a muggle studies textbook, I kept imagining the wolf- or dog- the image was becoming more fuzzy, but I knew it was some form of canine... and the fact tonight was a full moon didn't help. I kept wondering... what if it was a werewo— no. Nope. I'm not that much of an idiot. I'm too smart to think that could've been a werewolf when the full moon hadn't even got near the sky yet. I just- this creature was driving me crazy. Sure I had ran- but I didn't feel like I was in any danger... at least not from the animal- the forest is always dangerous but it felt more like a fuzzy puppy was staring at me...

See, when you're a very impulsive person who has no self control, you shouldn't be left alone with thoughts about the mysterious animal you saw in a forest... but here I am. Sitting alllll alone in the library... and what do I do? Leg it. I run out of the library, Miss Pince yelling behind me for causing a disruption to her perfect peace and quiet. I raced through the halls, not really paying attention and then- I bumped into someone. "Well, well. Nice to see you, Y/l/n." A very confident voice said. I could almost hear the smirk on his lips. "Crouch, get out of my way" I spat. He just stood before me, blocking my path. "No darling, I don't think I will. You know, I quite fancy having another go at what happened at the party. What do you say, beautiful? Give me a kiss" He leaned closer to me. I was about to punch him- but another fist beat me to it. "You dare try córner her like that again, Crouch, and it'll be more than a punch to the face." The all too familiar voice of Sirius Black came from behind me. Barty rolled his eyes and stumbled away. I turned to Sirius, smiling ever so slightly. "Cheers, Black. I owe you one-" Sirius seemed to beam at that. "So- why the hell are you running out? I saw you hiding in the library for hours and it's bound to get dark in another few hours- it's not safe outside during full moons." For once, Sirius was being serious. Ironic, a boy with a name so close to "Serious" yet he's the total opposite. Anyway, I shrugged off what he said. "I'm going to read till it gets dark, plus I want to see if I can find out what I saw last time-" I froze. Now I was in for it. Now I'd really be the girl who cried wolf. "What did you see?" Sirius raised an eyebrow, crossing his arms as he leaned against the wall. "Just some animal that I want to try find again, now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to read in my spot." I then swiftly walked away, leaving Sirius standing behind me with a grin on his face as he called out "Be in before dark! If you don't... well let's just say I See A Bad Moon A-Risin' tonight"  weird.

I got to the forest and sat at my tree, this time my wand was tangled into my hair because that's faster than getting it from my zipped up pockets. I took out my book and started reading. Just as U was slipping into the story, getting lost in the pages as usual... I could feel a set of eyes on me... but it didn't feel as scary as last time... The eyes slowly grew closer, I could see them glinting in the light. I slowly put my book down and sat up properly, and just like that, a black German Shepherd came up and sat at my side, nuzzling my side. I just sat confused for a couple minutes before I started petting the dog. "Oh hello! You're just so cute aren't you?" I said in a typical person-talking-to-a-dog voice. I sat for hours, just playing with the dog and messing around.... I didn't even notice when the sun set-
