You are Y/n. You are a 5th Year Gryffindor at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. (I apologise to the non gryffs, it's just for convenience)
This year (1976), you take your Ordinary Wizarding Levels, or O.W.Ls, which you've been preparing for all of 4th year.
For the first few years of Hogwarts, you didn't make many friends. You kept to yourself and focused on your studies. The Y/l/n purebloods were always known for keeping deep focus on their studies, after all. In your 3rd year, though, you began to struggle with defence against the dark arts. Because of your struggles, a boy in your year volunteered to help out. The boy was named Remus Lupin. The two of you became fast friends, finding you had quite a lot in common.
Through Remus, you began talking to one of your roommates, Lily Evans, much more. Turns out, having friends was a lot better than you believed. Through Lily, you got to know your other three roommates, Marlene McKinnon, Mary MacDonald and Dorcas Meadows. You got along well with all four girls, instantly becoming very close friends. Though, matter what, you were always closest to Lily. You remained quite close to Remus but after your tutoring ended, you didn't talk as much. Turns out, a certain black haired spectacled boy named James Potter was pining after your new friend, Lily. You ended up rather close to James too, and his friend group, "The Marauders" which included Remus.
Though, there was a downside to this. That downside's name is Sirius Black. The boy constantly pestered you, same way James would to Lily. At first, Sirius was only doing it to mock James and have a laugh, but eventually, he had actually developed feelings for you. Now, you're at the end of your 5th year of Hogwarts. With OWLs coming up and the chaos of studying, exams and the pranks of the marauders... what could possibly go wrong?
