So newsie here is a Yandere AND a stalker! It's really a two for one deal. Buy one trait and get another for completely free! As for the song choices, I'd say both Paparazzi by Lady Gaga AND An Unhealthy Obsession by Blake Robinson Synthetic Orchestra since he's a package deal.
Explaining his kills! ------------- Setsuka: Unintentional. She told him that he needed to stop focusing so much on Kado and it sent him into a fit of rage. She was strangled into unconsciousness and then shot in the head when Nik realized that she would go to the police if he didn't kill her. Yuki/Utsuro: Simply put, Nik was jealous. Of course he understands the love for Master Utsuro, but creating an AI to try to recreate him... well, we can't have that now can we? A hard kill, but Nik managed to successfully kidnap him. His death was prolonged, with Nik slicing his Achilles' tendons just for funsies before shooting him in the heart. Yoruko: She simply knew too much. They already were rivals of sorts, so he didn't feel bad about killing her. She threatened to go to the police with her suspicions (A HORRIBLE MOVE. Pro tip- if you suspect someone is doing something illegal DONT TELL THEM! If you think you have actual evidence, go to the police <3), which obviously led to Nikei attacking her. She was stabbed to death with a kitchen knife. Tsurugi: Kinda obvious. He was the head of the murder cases and Nik couldn't exactly let him keep living. The evidence wasn't all present, but a few people had come forward saying that he has an almost obsessive infatuation with the man all these murders were connected to, prompting Mr. Kinjo to look into him.
I'm not sure exactly how he gets caught, but he kills four people before he does. If you want to know if he's ever had encounters with Mr. Sannoji, of course he has! Though I don't know when they would first meet and what Mikado would do to make Nik obsess over him, I have a strong feeling that our two for one deal here would kidnap Mikado and that's how he ends up getting caught. How? I have no idea.
Other encounters include: -A meeting at a bookstore/coffee shop or somethin' where Nikei sees him reading the article about Yuki/Utsuro's death and holy fuck that would be such an amazing scene. Kado is in shambles while Nik is just subtlety gloating, not making it obvious but still saying how intelligent the killer must be. -Mikado talks to him about some weird silhouette he sees hiding behind trees near his house who almost seems like they're taking pictures of him... Nikei's just sitting there pretending to be concerned but inside he's think something along the lines of, "aww, he still hasn't caught on that it's me? His obviousness is adorable haha~" because it's a Yandere AU what do you expect -Just "bumping into each other" at times and talking for a bit. I added the quotes bc OF COURSE it's not a coincidence, Nikei did some next level stalker shit and found out places Mikado frequents so that he could change his route to see him more often.
And yes, hc that him and Kanade would be best friends in this AU. Nikei finds Kanade's obsession with her sister to be disgusting, but he overlooks it. Hey, he's a terrible person in this. He really only cares about having a murder buddy (murder mentor??) who won't rat him out to the police. Kanade's giving him advice on how to paralyze someone and he's just like, "That sounds relatively easy, just gotta slash their heel? I don't work with knives much, but I guess it's worth a try. Hey, do you want black or pink nail polish?" I will never let go of my hc that Nikei wears makeup.

This AU is just oddly comforting to me so... yeah! No motivations that I can think of (yet). This was pretty much just self indulgence here (though technically everything here is-). This was fun, hope you enjoyed learning about the Yandere AU :3
