Chapter 8

The door was being unlocked from the other side and then gently pushed opened. Steven walked in first, smiling and was excited to bring a certain person home. He turned around and jested for the other person to follow him.

STEVEN: Don't be shy. Come on in.

Spinel was hesitant at first, as she took her first steps into Steven's house, carrying a small backpack of her belongings... and while doing so was amazed by her surroundings: The house, or in some ways, a beach house was a modest-sized dwelling with one large interior room and an upper level. The upper level served as Steven's bedroom while the main interior contained a lounge with a fireplace and a kitchen/bar. The door to the bathroom was located on the back left, past the fireplace, while the bathroom itself was built directly below the upper level. Outside was a balcony/deck with further seating and an umbrella. Hanging inside, a picture of his mother, Rose Quartz, was above the door. The far side of the house's interior opened into the foyer where he kept his office and a room for clients to relax. The house was very modern looking, with fabulous wooden flooring.

Spinel was gobsmacked how big the place was...even for one person.

STEVEN: Well? What do you think...?

SPINEL: It's...it's...(Tears form into her eyes and then she breaks down)

It looked like Spinel was about to fall down but Steven quickly aided her, concerned from this strange behaviour of sadness...it was something he wasn't expecting Spinel to do.

STEVEN: Spinel, what's wrong...?

SPINEL: (Sobbing) I'm sorry...

STEVEN: (Slight chuckle) What are you sorry for?

SPINEL: For...f-for reacting like this...

STEVEN: Oh, Spinel, don't be silly...I understand if this is overwhelming.

SPINEL: It's not...I...I'm just...happy...

STEVEN: Then why are you crying?

SPINEL: (Looks at Steven and wipes her tears) This...this is real, isn't it? I mean, I'm not dreaming, am I?

Steven was taken back by the question but played along with it.

STEVEN: No, you're not dreaming. (Smiles) This is real.

SPINEL: (Smiles also) Then that's why I was crying. (Wipes more tears) I'm happy. (Looks around) I can't believe I'm here and not...back at the other place, where people look at me, test me and judge me. (Looks at Steven) Being here, right now, it...it makes me feel...normal.

Spinel then looked into Steven's eyes, as did Steven back to her. There was a moment, where their eyes seemed to pass on feelings for each other. It was only now that Steven noticed her magenta eyes, something that was very rare to have...only this time they seemed to glow from the reflective light of the sun rays piercing in the home and brighten them up. Spinel started to blush, as Steven was still staring.

STEVEN: You have...beautiful eyes...

Spinel was lost for words and blushed even more brightly. Steven realised he was looking at her to long and what he said...he cleared his throat, as if to avoid the awkwardness.
