Kasumi was eagerly bouncing on the couch, her excitement palpable as she clutched her favorite stuffed bear.
"Papa 'Tru! Daddy 'Tob! Is it time for the doctor yet?" Kasumi's voice rang out with a mixture of curiosity and eagerness.
Oikawa, who was carefully preparing a small bag with essentials for their outing, smiled at his daughter's enthusiasm. "Almost, sweetie. We're just about ready to go. Are you excited?"
Kasumi nodded vigorously, her eyes wide with anticipation. "Yes! I want to see the doctor!"
Kageyama, who was checking the list of items they needed, chuckled softly. "You're very brave, Kasumi. Not everyone looks forward to a doctor's visit."
Kasumi beamed up at her father. "I want to be brave like you, Daddy 'Tob."
Kageyama ruffled her hair affectionately. "Well, I'm sure you'll do great."
As they made their way out of the house, Oikawa and Kageyama led Kasumi to the car, where they carefully strapped her into her car seat. The ride to the doctor's office was filled with Kasumi's excited chatter about what she imagined the visit would be like.
"Papa 'Tru, what do you think the doctor will say?" Kasumi asked, peering up at Oikawa from her seat.
Oikawa glanced back at her through the rearview mirror, his eyes twinkling with amusement. "I think the doctor will say you're doing a fantastic job growing up. And maybe you'll get a special sticker for being so brave."
Kasumi's eyes widened with delight. "A sticker? Wow!"
When they arrived at the doctor's office, the waiting room was bright and cheerful, designed to make young patients feel at ease. Kasumi's gaze flitted around, taking in the colorful posters and toys scattered around the room.
Kageyama led the way to the reception desk, where they checked in. Kasumi clutched her stuffed bear tightly, her excitement momentarily replaced by a hint of nervousness.
Oikawa noticed the change in her demeanor and knelt down beside her. "Hey, it's going to be okay. The doctor is really nice and an old friend of daddy's, and both of us will be right here with you the whole time."
Kasumi nodded, though her grip on her bear tightened. "Okay, Papa 'Tru."
Just then, the nurse called out their names, and they made their way to the examination room. "Hello! Ms. Kasumi, is it? Are you ready for your checkup?"
Kasumi looked up at her with wide eyes but managed a brave smile. "Hi! Yes, I'm ready!"
The nurse guides them into the room and asked Kasumi to hop onto the examination table. Oikawa and Kageyama took seats beside her, their presence a comforting reassurance.
As the nurse began to check Kasumi's vital signs, she explained each step in a friendly, soothing manner. Kasumi, though a bit apprehensive, seemed to relax under the nurse's gentle approach.
"Now, we're going to listen to your heart," the nurse says, placing the stethoscope gently on Kasumi's chest. "Can you take a deep breath for me?"
Kasumi did as instructed, and the nurse smiled encouragingly. "Great job, Kasumi! You're doing wonderfully."
Oikawa and Kageyama exchanged proud glances as they watched their daughter handle the situation with remarkable bravery. Kasumi even managed to chat with the nurse about her favorite toys, which seemed to ease her nerves.
After the nurse had completed her tasks, it was time for the doctor to come in.
Dr. Kiyoko, the wife of Tanaka Ryuunosuke, who had recently started working in the clinic, greeted them with a gentle smile, "Hello, Mr. Oikawas, great to see you again, and..." Her gaze travels down to the nervous girl and she flashes her a big smile. "Kasumi! How are you today?"
Kasumi looked up, her earlier nervousness fading as she smiled back. "I'm good! I'm ready for my checkup."
Dr. Kiyoko chuckled softly and proceeded with the examination, speaking to Kasumi in a friendly, reassuring tone. "Let's check your height and weight first. Can you stand on this scale for me?"
Kasumi stood on the scale, and the doctor notes the results in the clipboard she had. "You're growing up so fast, Kasumi. You're doing great!"
When the examination was finished, Dr. Kiyoko gave Kasumi a colorful sticker with a smiley face. "You were such a brave girl today. Here's a sticker for you!"
Kasumi's eyes lit up with delight as she accepted the sticker, her earlier nerves now replaced with joy. "Thank you, Doctor!"
Oikawa and Kageyama smiled at their daughter's happiness, relieved that the visit had gone so smoothly.
"Thank you so much, Shimizu, for this." Kageyama bows his head and shook Kiyoko's hand, in which the doctor could only giggle and dismiss his efforts. "Its no problem at all Tobio. I'm just glad Kasumi's doing and growing up well."
Kiyoko adds, "You and Tooru-chan can always schedule for Kasumi's monthly checkups. And also, don't be shy because I'm one call away."
As they left the doctor's office, Kasumi proudly showed off her sticker, her confidence shining through.
Back in the car, as they headed home, Kasumi chattered excitedly about her visit. "Papa Tru, Daddy Tob, I got a sticker! And the doctor was really nice!"
Oikawa and Kageyama exchanged a satisfied glance, their hearts full. "We're so proud of you, Kasumi," Oikawa said, his voice filled with warmth.
Kageyama nodded in agreement. "You did a fantastic job today."
Kasumi grinned from ear to ear, her earlier apprehension now a distant memory. "Thank you, Papa 'Tru and Daddy 'Tob. I love you!"
And as they drove home, the family's laughter and love filled the car, making the day's adventure a cherished memory for all.
