Kasumi, who had recently turned four, was bouncing with excitement as she wiggled her loose tooth, her enthusiasm evident.
"Papa 'Tru! Daddy 'Tob!" Kasumi called out, her eyes wide with anticipation. "My tooth is really loose today! Is it time for the dentist?"
Oikawa, who was in the middle of preparing breakfast, glanced at Kageyama with a knowing smile. "Looks like today's the big day, Tobio. Are you ready for your visit to the dentist?"
Kasumi nodded eagerly, her excitement tinged with a hint of nervousness. "I'm ready! I want to see if the dentist will give me a special sticker."
Kageyama, who was preparing a small bag with essentials for their outing, chuckled softly. "You're going to do great, Kasumi. The dentist is really nice and will help you with your tooth."
After breakfast, they set off for the dentist's office, Kasumi holding her parents' hands tightly as they walked. The drive was filled with Kasumi's excited chatter about what she hoped would happen.
When they arrived at the dentist's office, the waiting room was bright and welcoming, with posters of famous tv shows that children were watching nowadays, and of course, a small play area for children.(seems familiar?) Kasumi's eyes sparkled as she took in the surroundings.
"Look, Papa 'Tru! Look, Daddy 'Tob! It's so colorful here! And they have a ball pit!" Kasumi exclaimed. "Can I pleeeaaase play in it? Even for a short while?"
Oikawa and Kageyama exchanged smiles, glad to see their daughter's enthusiasm. "Sure, but only for 10 minutes alright? Stay on the ballpit and only in the ballpit."
Kasumi, who couldn't contain her excitement, squeals and hugs her two dads before running off into the ball pit.
"Wait Kasumi, your hand sani- Oh nevermind." Kageyama deflates, hand sanitizer in hand whilst Oikawa cackled at the sight.
---
10 minutes have now passed and as promised, Kasumi goes back to her parents with a tired smile and a sweaty forehead. Kageyama quickly wipes off the sweat and inserts a clean towel right by Kasumi's back before they head off to the reception desk.
As they checked in at the reception desk, the friendly receptionist gave Kasumi a warm smile. "Hi there! Are you here for your tooth appointment?"
Kasumi nodded, her grip on her papa Oikawa's hand tightening slightly. "Yes! I have a loose tooth, and the dentist is going to help me."
The receptionist guided them to the examination room, where the dental hygienist greeted them with a friendly wave. "Hi, Kasumi! Are you ready for your visit?"
Kasumi looked up with a brave smile, her parents standing close by. "Yes, I'm ready!"
The hygienist led Kasumi to the dental chair and gently helped her settle in. She explained each step in a calm and soothing manner, using playful language to keep Kasumi at ease.
"We're going to count your teeth and take a quick look, okay?" the hygienist said, holding up a small mirror and flashlight. "Just like a treasure hunt!"
Kasumi giggled at the comparison, her earlier nerves easing as she followed the hygienist's instructions. Oikawa and Kageyama watched closely, their hearts full of pride and concern.
It was now time for the dentist to come in. She entered the room with a warm smile. "Hello, Kasumi! How are we doing today?"
Kasumi greeted her with a smile, though she still looked a bit hesitant. "Hi, Doc! My tooth is really loose, and I'm ready for you to help me."
The dentist nodded reassuringly. "You're doing a fantastic job, Kasumi. Let's take a look at that tooth and see what we need to do."
With gentle hands, the dentist examined Kasumi's loose tooth and explained the procedure in simple terms. "We're going to help that tooth come out, and then we'll give you a special sticker for being so brave. How does that sound?"
Kasumi's eyes lit up at the mention of a sticker. "I'll be brave! I want a sticker!"
The dentist carefully numbed the area around the tooth to ensure Kasumi felt minimal discomfort. Oikawa and Kageyama stayed close by, offering words of encouragement and holding her hands.
As the dentist worked, Kasumi squeezed her parents' hands tightly but remained calm. The procedure was quick, and soon enough, Kasumi was finished.
"All done, Kasumi!" the dentist announced with a smile. "You were such a brave girl. Here's your special sticker!"
Kasumi took the sticker with a grin, her earlier anxiety now replaced with pride. "Thank you, Ms. Dentist! My tooth is out!"
Oikawa and Kageyama breathed a sigh of relief and offered their daughter a loving hug. "You did an amazing job, Kasumi," Oikawa said, his voice filled with warmth.
Kageyama nodded in agreement. "We're so proud of you. How about we go get some ice cream to celebrate?"
Kasumi's eyes sparkled with excitement. "Ice cream? Yes, please!"
As they left the dentist's office and headed to their favorite ice cream shop, Kasumi chattered excitedly about her adventure. Oikawa and Kageyama listened with smiles, their hearts swelling with affection for their brave little girl.
The visit to the dentist, though a milestone, was just one of many adventures they would share as a family.
And as they enjoyed their ice cream together, the joy and pride in their hearts were as sweet as the treat they savored, making the day a perfect celebration of Kasumi's bravery and their family's love.
