Emilie's POV
We got out of the broken car. Conner helping Isabelle and I out of it. Scott came back and looked at us worried. "I think I found something." Sage said to him. "So did I." Scott replied to us. "It's a coyote den." Stiles said to Scott. "Werecoyote." Scott said. "Werecoyote... of course." Isabelle and I said. "You see this? This is Malia's. Remember, it's the same one she was wearing in the photo." Stiles said showing a doll to all of us. "We shouldn't be in here." Conner said. "What do you mean?" Sage asked. "She's not going to come back now. We just invaded her home. Our scent's going to be everywhere." Conner said. "If she's not going to come back here, where's she going to go?" I asked. "I don't know." Scott said. "Can you track her now? You think you got her scent?" Isabelle asked the twins. "Maybe. But I'm better at this when I'm a full wolf. And I'm still worried that if I do it, I won't be able to turn back." Scott said. "The door's still open." Stiles said. "If I can't get to Derek, we're gonna have to find someone else to help. This is basically a crime scene, right? I think it might be a little out of my boss's league." Scott said. "And more in my dad's." I said. We went to the Sherriff's station. "You're sure it was her?" Dad asked. "I looked her right in the eyes. And they glowed just like mine." Scott said. "It makes sense, Dad." Isabelle said. "But it wasn't a girl. It was a four-legged coyote, right?" Dad asked confused. "Well, okay. But yeah, see, that's the point that we don't exactly have figured out yet." Stiles said. "Okay, but if it was a full moon and she did change while her mom was driving, then anything could've happened." Sage said. "Horrible things could've happened. Ripping, shredding, tearing things." Conner said. "Which is probably what caused the accident." Scott said. "Think about it, Dad, all right. They're driving, Malia starts to change, she goes out of control, the mom crashes and everybody dies." I said. "Except for Malia." Scott said. "She blames herself, all right, goes off running into the woods and eventually becomes trapped inside the body of a coyote." I said. "That makes sense. In a Chinese folktale. Kids, this is this is insane. I need this kept quiet. The five of you, not a word. I don't want anyone hearing about this. I especially don't want Mr. Tate hearing about this. Scott? Scott!" Dad said seeing Scott freezing up. "Sorry. What did you say?" Scott said. "Oh, hell. Mr. Tate." Dad said. "Dad." Sage and Scott said and Scott's arm tightened around my waist. "I'll talk to you in a minute. I wouldn't mind hearing how your mom's okay with you running around in the woods this late." Mr. McCall said. "We weren't alone we had Conner and Isabelle." Scott said. "What the hell are you doing bringing him here?" Dad asked. "I'm getting confirmation on a more than significant lead. And starting to understand why your department can't close cases." Mr. McCall said and Scott didn't loosen his grip knowing I'd punch his father if he did even a little bit. "There's no body. There's no remains to identify." Dad said. "Well, not yet, Sheriff. But do a little digging and I'm sure you'll uncover something. Like the bones of a 9-year-old girl." Mr. McCall said smirking. "I think you're going to find it's just a little bit more complicated than that, Special Agent." Officer Raymond said walking in. "Come on, Stilinski and Raymond, you know how this goes. It's the not knowing that ruins people like Tate. The truth, no matter how profoundly it sucks the truth is always better than not knowing." Mr. McCall said. We went home well I went to the apartment with Isabelle and Conner I sat on the bed and looked through the photos I had on my laptop.
