The snow and harsh cold winds that blew through the underground forest bit at (Y/N)'s bare skin. At first, she tried to ignore it, but she couldn't - How was it even snowing underground? The woods they trekked through were dark, but not dark enough to leave her sightless. Looking up, the ceiling of the cavern was dotted with little glowing lights. Stars? That couldn't be right - it had to be day on the surface at this point, if her internal clock was anything to go off of. Plus, that would mean there would have to be a gigantic opening on the mountain that seemingly no one had ever seen. As if. So, what was it?

Flowey noted the look of concentration on her face as she stared at the ceiling, as well as just how hard she was shivering. He opened his mouth to say something, but the two of them were stopped dead in their tracks at the sound of a voice - deep and full of bass, though it was edged with a cold indifference.

"you lost, kiddo?" it called, drawing (Y/N)'s attention from the ceiling to the owner, spotting not too far away, a skeleton, behind a stand of sorts. One hand held his cracked head, phalange tips dipping into the hole, and the other tapped rhythmically against the wooden counter. From what she could see, he wore a grey tee shirt and a very, very warm looking blue hoodie she would die to have right now. She looked at his face, and their eyes locked. She stayed stoic, as best she could, but she noted the unnerving nature of the large hole in his skull and his one, glowing red... eye? She supposed so, though instead of being an actual eyeball, it was more like a red backlight in his skull. His grin widened.

"you're lucky... some weirdo left bear traps everywhere, and you seem to have missed all of them." He remarked, a twinge of annoyance in his voice, causing her to glance back at the trail she walked. It looked mostly untouched, save for her footsteps, but with the snowfall, any traps could be easily covered up. She looked back at him, noting that he found her concern... funny. He snickered into his palm. She rolled her eyes, crossing her arms.

"Well, maybe y-"

"you look hungry."

"Wh-? I guess I am, a little. Last thing I ate made me throw up,"

"oh, really?"

Flowey shifted and poked his head out, squinting at the skeleton.

"What's your deal, trash bag?? She's not a threat to you or your food, so what's your issue?"

"i'm just asking a question, weed-"

"Well, she doesn't want to answer! We don't want to talk to you, and we're going to be going now!"

"Flowey!" (Y/N) said, sounding offended. Perhaps being spoken for wasn't something she fancied.

"B-But- (Y/N), he-!"

"He hasn't exactly done anything to cause this much of a reaction, Flowey. He's just sitting there. I'm a big girl, I can decide when a situation is dangerous or not,"

The skeleton's grin widened a touch, fingers hooking around the edge of his cranial injury. He let out a chuckle, just under his breath.

"so, kid, you hungry or not?"

"Yes, I am. But I don't have food, so..."

"i'm s'posed to be watching that door for humans, but as a side gig, i've been selling hot dogs. want one?" He hummed, as if reading from a script he'd been learning for years. He reached under the stand, pulling out a... A hot dog. Just a regular hot dog, minus the dog-like face drawn onto it. Where the hell...?

"Oh, uh.." (Y/N) pat her sides, highlighting the lack of pockets on her shorts. She shrugged.
"I don't, uh, have any money."

"that's fine. how's about i let you have the first one on the house, and you promise to come back and buy more later?"

"I.. I don't know..." She murmured, though her rumbling stomach seemed to think otherwise. He raised his eyebrows at her.
"I guess it's alright. I'll be sure to pay you back, though,"

She began to approach the stand, reaching out to grab the oddly fresh-looking hotdog from him.

"WOWIEE! ANOTHER HUMAN, SO SOON!!"

She quickly yanked her hands to her chest - a knee-jerk reaction as she whipped around on her feet, staring up at what had caused the noise. The skeleton behind the stand glared up at the source of the startling noise, but his gaze softened quickly after.

"HELLO, HUMAN! I AM THE GREAT PAPYRUS!" He exclaimed, bending a bit to get a closer look at her. She took a step back, pressing her palms against the tabletop of the smaller skeleton's stand. Papyrus was... scary. She wouldn't say it out loud, just out of kindness, but from his long, jagged teeth to his loud and abrupt speech, he was startling, more so than anything she'd seen before now. His height was also a factor in this fear. There was no way he was shorter than 7 ft, if not taller.
Papyrus cocked his head at her awestruck expression, grinning and shifting to stand at his full height.
"I WAS JUST COMING TO CHECK ON MY BROTHER SANS! BUT! YOU ARE HERE! IN FRONT OF HIM!"

"Oh, s-sorry-" she murmured, stepping aside and out of the way of the shorter skeleton - Sans, she supposed.

"IT IS ALRIGHT, HUMAN!" He beamed, before turning his attention to his shorter brother. She took the moment to study his appearance, sort of drowning out their conversation. His clothing was.. strange. He wore bright red boots and gloves, as well as a matching tattered scarf. Instead of a regular shirt, he wore a matte white armor-like chest piece with short puffy sleeves edged in gold, exposing his spine. For pants, he wore... Jean shorts?? Did skeletons not feel cold? Then why would Sans wear a hoodie? That didn't-
She was grabbed by her wrist, suddenly being pulled along by the taller skeleton brother. She snapped out of her space-out session, looking up at him.

"W-wh.. Where are we going??"

"TO GO DO PUZZLES, OF COURSE! WE STILL HAVE MEAT LEFT OVER FROM THE LAST HUMAN! SO! BECAUSE I'VE CAPTURED YOU! YOU WILL HELP ME PERFECT MY PUZZLES!"

Meat left ov- They were planning to kill her? Jesus, she spaces out for a minute, if that, and they go from feeding her to killing her??

"A-Are you sure?" She sputtered, now much more conscious about his hand every so tightly wrapped around her fist, "I-uh-I don't exactly think I'm much of a meal-"

"NONSENSE! THE LAST HUMAN WAS MUCH SMALLER THAN YOU! AND SHE WAS PERFECTLY WORTH THE EFFORT!"

She gulped hard, looking down at Flowey, who seemed just as unsure as her. She had time, at least. Hopefully she wouldn't freeze.
