How did I get here? From just messing around to looking down at a positive pregnancy test. I wanted none of this to escalate the way that it did. It was only for fun, but now….now it's too late. I'm pregnant and I can't blame anybody else but myself.

(Six months earlier)
Everything happened in November. It was just a normal day. Thanksgiving was a week away and everyone at my job was throwing a party before we left for Thanksgiving. We were setting up decorations, setting out food, and making fruit punch. The party was finally ready and the only thing that was missing was my boss, Derek Kyle. I usually would go retrieve him since most of my colleagues were too scared to cross paths with him. I was gonna knock on the door until I noticed that it was already cracked open. "Mr. Kyle?" I slowly opened the door. He was nowhere to be found. "Mr. Kyle, everything is ready for the party." I called out. Still no response. I huffed in annoyance. "Mr. Kyle." I decided to walk around his office in search of him.

I looked nearly everywhere and still no sign of him. I was going to leave until I heard thumping coming from the closet. I crept closer with my hand stretched out to grab the handle. I slowly turned the handle. I snatched the door open. Mr. Kyle and the skank, known as Racheal, fell out on the ground. "Oh my god!" I turned away covering my eyes. "Mercy? What are you doing here?" Mr. Kyle asked, quickly getting up and fixing himself up. "I'm sorry. I just wanted to tell you that the party is ready, but it seems like you are busy." "You could've knocked." Racheal scolded. "I would've, but the door was open and you wouldn't have heard me either way." I replied with a hint of sass in my voice. Mr. Kyle's eyes fell on me. "I-I should go." I stuttered a bit. I quickly ran out of his office. None of my coworkers noticed my unease expression.

I put on a fake smile and joined them. Soon Mr. Kyle and Racheal walked outside of his office, and joined us. I made sure to keep my distance from both, but as usual, nothing goes as I wish. Racheal grabbed my arm and pulled me away from everyone. "One word about what you saw comes out of your mouth, I'll make your life a living hell." She threatened.  I rolled my eyes. "Everyone already knows that you're the skank and a slut, so why would this matter to you?" "You heard me. Now test me and see what happens." Racheal pushed me with her shoulder. I sighed as I rubbed my shoulder. Nobody likes her for a reason. For at least half of the day, I avoided contact with either one of them. It was time to leave, and I was more than happy to leave. I was grabbing my things when Mr. Kyle entered my office. “Leaving so soon?” He asked, giving me a somewhat nervous smile. “Yes.” I didn’t look at him. I started to look around for my keys. "Looking for theses?" Mr. Kyle was spinning my keys on his finger. "I am so can I please have them back." I reached for them, but he pulled them away from my reach. When I backed off, he dangled them in my face, playfully. I rolled my eyes.

"Just give me my keys." "Is that a way to talk to your boss?" I rolled my eyes again. "Look, what you saw today," "I already know. Not to say anything." I snatched my keys out of his hand. "That wasn't what I was gonna say." "Sure it wasn't, Mr. Kyle." I walked past him. He grabbed my arm. His indigo eyes met my brown ones. I snatched my arm out of his grip. "See you on Monday sir." I left him alone in my office. Who would've guessed, Mr. Kyle would have taken an interest in me that day.
