Ana came back shortly with our food thankfully, I was starving and beginning to feel a bit buzzed from the champagne.

"Let me know if you two need anything else" Ana said before walking off.

" I wanted to apologize to you Scar" Greyson said as he swirled his drink in his hand.

"For what?" I asked curiously as I picked up a fry.

"For being your mate and having you in my life for almost a year now and never taking you on a date " he said looking down shyly.

"Things did go pretty fast didn't they?" I laughed. "I mean how could you? You had a girlfriend then we found out we were mates and I was a complete mess and then all the stuff with the Elders and lost prophet business, there hasn't been much time for romancing " I thought back on my life for the past year. All of it feels so far away, so impossibly complicated.

"I had time to bed you Scarlett, I had time to romance you. I've been a terrible mate" he looked completely devastated.

"Stop, don't say that! Yes things were complicated for us, are complicated for us, but that doesn't mean you are a terrible mate at all! I mean stars above Grey, you have done nothing but protect me and keep me safe from the moment I met you! You cook for me, make time for me always, built me a freaking bathtub half the size of your house and you even put up with my familiar and ex boyfriend. You are a saint !" I reached over, placing my hand on top of his, soothing him the best way I could, through touch.

"I promise I will be better, I will wine and dine you, bring you flowers and chocolates every day " he said more to himself.

"Grey, do I look like a girl who likes to be wined and dined??? Take me to the lake or a walk in the forest and I swear you'll always have my heart! No to flowers because I'd rather grow them and watch them live then have dead store bought flowers in our home and always yes to the chocolate " I teased, Greyson laughing along with me.

"Duly noted, tell me more. Tell me every single thing there is to know about you. I already know your favorite breakfast is biscuits and gravy and your favorite meal is a cheeseburger, but what about your favorite dessert? Your favorite color? Your favorite song? Your favorite movie? Tell me about school and work before you came to me, hell even tell me about Bryson . I want to know every detail about my mate" Greyson leaned over the table, eyes full of curiosity.

I finished chewing and swallowed before clearing my throat.

"That was a lot of questions" I laughed. "Alright favorite dessert, cheesecake. Favorite colors are black and forest green. I don't have a favorite song, but only listen to music that moves me, like it has to reach more soul or it isn't for me. Favorite movie is anything horror. I love scary movies! When Bryson would you know go out without me, I'd binge watch scary movies all night. I actually looked forward to those nights. I graduated from a university, I was an art major, I love to paint but never found that I wanted to make a career of it. I actually used to work at a bar that Bryse's band used to play at. I freaking loved that job. I honestly love bartending, but Bryse hated it. He used to think it was beneath me, and at one point he convinced me it was. " I shrugged.

"What about you? I mean I know your every single food choice because of my job but what about favorite color, song, and movie? How did you come about owning all of your businesses? Especially Club Awakening. " I sat back in my chair, taking another drink.

"Easy favorite color is blue" he paused looking into my eyes, I blushed knowing he was talking about the color of my eyes.

"No favorite song but a few of my favorite bands include, LINKIN PARK, 3 Doors Down, The Rolling Stones and Red Hot Chili Peppers. I love country music as well.  My favorite movie is Stephen King's Pet Sematary. I see we have a common love for horror movies. Ryder and I grew up watching scary movies even though we weren't allowed to" his turn to get lost in a memory. I smiled alongside of him, happy to see him look so free, so unburned. Those moments were rare these days.
