Meredith wasn't entirely sure what time it was. She hadn't been able to sleep at all. Every time she shut her eyes, all she could see was Derek Shepherd's very dreamy face. The image of him had kept her up all night. When she told Izzie about what had happened, she had immediately begun to ask a million questions about him and about what he was like. The only problem was, she honestly didn't know. She knew nothing about him, except for his name and the fact that he was incredibly gorgeous and quite possibly had the bluest eyes she had ever seen in her fifteen years of life. Besides that she knew absolutely nothing.
She heard her alarm go off and knew she had to get up. She couldn't just stay in bed all day thinking about Derek. Whatever was going on with him, had to stop. She couldn't keep going about like this. It had only been one day and she already felt like she was about to lose her mind. The more she thought about it, there hadn't even been anything going on to stop. They had bumped into each other in a crowded hallway. That was it. Things like that happened all the time, so she needed to just get over her thing for Derek Shepherd.
She had finished her first couple classes and was now on her way to lunch. She was starving.
"Meredith!" she heard a familiar voice call. A voice that she hadn't been able to quite get out of her head the last day.
"Derek...I...hey," she stuttered feeling like a complete idiot.
"I've been looking for you all morning," he said smiling softly at her.
"You..you have?" she asked softly as her heart pounded in her chest.
"Yeah, I have."
"Oh," she said looking at the ground.
"Oh?" he asked with a frown beginning to form on his face.
"No...I just..."
"No, it's okay if you want me to go I can. It's just...I haven't been able to stop thinking about you ever since yesterday it's like...sorry you probably think I'm crazy," he said laughing softly.
"No...no not at all...um...you're definitely not crazy," she said blushing slightly.
"I brought some lunch, if you want," he said holding up the brown paper bag with a smile.
"Of course," she said returning the smile. Was this actually happening? Did he actually feel the same way?
"Let's see what my mom packed today," he said while sitting down at a table in the very crowded cafeteria.
"Your mom packs your lunch?"
"I...um...yeah," he admitted looking embarrassed.
"Don't be embarrassed. I think it's sweet," she said squeezing his arm.
"Ever since my dad died, she's felt like she has to do everything for us kids."
"I'm sorry," she said with a small frown falling over her face.
"For what?"
"Your dad."
"Oh...thanks," he said flashing her a sad smile.
There it was again. That damn smile. The smile that had made her melt away the previous day.
"Here, we have a peanut butter and jelly sandwich," he said whilst pulling it out of the bag.
"I haven't had one in forever," she grinned.
"We can split it," he said handing her one half.
"Oh my...this is..." she said while taking a bite and moaning softly. "This is amazing."
