Part 56: The New Member

The Oikawa household was buzzing with a secret excitement. Oikawa and Kageyama had been planning for weeks to surprise their daughter, Kasumi, with a new addition to their family, a small liver-colored Shih Tzu puppy.

Tonight was the night they had decided to reveal the surprise.

After a cozy family dinner filled with laughter and stories, Oikawa and Kageyama exchanged knowing glances. They had prepared a small box, just the right size for their little Shih Tzu, who was now curled up and sleeping soundly inside.

"Kasumi sweetie," Oikawa called out, his voice cheerful. "How about we play a little game before bedtime?"

Kasumi, who had been playing with her toys in the living room, perked up at the mention of a game. "What game, Papa Tru?"

Kageyama, with a twinkle in his eye, added, "It's a special game. You have to find a surprise that we've hidden for you."

Kasumi's eyes widened with excitement. "A surprise? I love surprises!"

Oikawa set the box on the coffee table and covered it with a decorative cloth. "It's under this cloth. Can you guess what it is?"

Kasumi bounced up and down, her curiosity piqued. "I can't wait to find out!"

Kageyama watched with a smile as Kasumi eagerly approached the table. He and Oikawa exchanged a glance, their hearts full of anticipation.

"Alright, Kasumi," Oikawa said, his voice warm. "You can uncover the surprise now."

With trembling hands, Kasumi carefully lifted the cloth, her eyes growing even wider as she spotted the small box. "What's inside?"

Oikawa knelt beside her, gently guiding her. "Why don't you open it and see for yourself?"

Kasumi lifted the lid of the box, and as soon as she did, the tiny Shih Tzu puppy lifted its head and gave a soft, sleepy yip. Kasumi's eyes went wide, and she gasped in delight.

"A puppy!" she squealed, her face lighting up with pure joy. "A real puppy!"

The Shih Tzu, still adjusting to the new surroundings, blinked up at Kasumi with big, curious eyes. Kasumi's excitement was contagious, and she carefully reached into the box to pick up the tiny puppy, cradling it gently in her arms.

Oikawa and Kageyama stood back, watching with loving smiles as their daughter bonded with her new furry friend.

"Isn't she adorable?" Oikawa said softly. "We thought she'd make the perfect companion for you."

Kasumi nodded enthusiastically, her eyes brimming with happiness. "She's perfect! I'm going to name her... Milo!"

Kageyama chuckled, his heart swelling with pride. "Milo is a lovely name. We're so happy you like her."

Kasumi looked up at her parents with a beaming smile. "Thank you, Papa Tru and Daddy Tob! Milo is the best surprise ever!"

The puppy, now fully awake, wagged its tail and licked Kasumi's cheek, causing her to giggle with delight. "She likes me!" Kasumi exclaimed.

Oikawa and Kageyama settled down on the couch, letting Kasumi enjoy her new puppy. They watched as Kasumi played gently with Milo, the puppy eagerly exploring her new home and getting to know her new family.

Oikawa sighs contentedly and glances at Kageyama, his eyes sparkling with adoration as he sees Kageyama looking at their daughter with such a soft look. Without warning, Oikawa inches in and kisses Kageyama by the cheek.

"What was that for?" Kageyama chuckles and turns to look at Oikawa with a teasing look.

"Just liked my view." Oikawa winks playfully, before looking at Kasumi.

But to his horror...

"KASUMI WATCH OUT, MILO'S POOPING ON THE CARPET-"

"Whoa, she poops so cutely!"

"KASUMI DON'T TOUCH IT?!"

As bedtime approached, Kasumi carefully placed Milo's small bed next to her own, making sure the now clean puppy was comfortable. Oikawa and Kageyama helped get everything ready for the night, their hearts full of contentment.

"Goodnight, Milo," Kasumi whispered, her voice soft and loving. "I'm so happy you're here."

Milo curled up in her bed, and Kasumi snuggled into her own, the soft sound of Milo's gentle breathing lulling her to sleep.

Oikawa and Kageyama exchanged a satisfied smile as they watched their daughter drift off to sleep, with Milo nestled close by. The surprise had been a success, and their hearts were full knowing that their family had grown in such a special way.

As they turned off the lights and left the room, Oikawa wrapped his hands around Kageyama's waist. "Tonight was perfect."

Kageyama nodded, his gaze soft with affection. "It was. Seeing Kasumi so happy makes it all worth it."

The home, now with the joyful presence of a new addition to the family, felt even more complete.

The surprise had brought a new wave of happiness and love to the Oikawa family, making the night a cherished memory they would hold dear forever.
