Bucky x Reader : Nightmares

You walked down the steps at the Avengers tower to the kitchen. You hadn't slept well the night before. The nightmares had come back. But no one knew about them. Well no one but Bucky. His room was right next to yours. The only two on the floor. He had come running in after hearing your screams. The rest of the team had been on an overnight mission halfway across the world.

He had come in and held her until she stopped shaking and fell back asleep. He had kissed your forehead and tucked you back into the bed. You woke up the next morning and saw him in the chair by the window. Getting up you put a blanket over him and went to breakfast. But that was 4 months ago. You hadn't had them that bad since.  

At least not until last night. Everyone had left on a mission. You were still newer to the group and not trained enough for this mission. As you sat down at the table you hear someone walk into the room. You rubbed your eyes and turned around. 

"Good morning y/n." Bucky said as he walked over to you. He smiled down at you. He could see it in your eyes. The scared. The hurt. "They came back?" He asked sitting down.

You nodded and sighed. "Worse than ever." you said and looked away. "I thought they had stopped being that way." You shivered and he reached for your hand. You let him take it and you feel a little better. You glance up at him and smile.

You turn your head as Nat walks into the kitchen. You slowly pull your hand back from Bucky's. Nat looks over at you and smiles. "I knew you liked him I just didn't think you had the balls to tell him." She said and walked over to the fridge. You felt your face flush red and side glanced at Bucky who was looking at you confused. 

You shook your head and stood . Nat was your best friend and you had told her that you liked Bucky with the hope that she would never say anything. You thought that you would never have to tell him that. You walked away with your face still red. 

Getting back to your room you sat on the bed thinking about the look on his face when she said that. He had looked almost hurt. You pulled your legs up to your chest. You were lost in thought when you heard a knock on the door.

"Its open." You called not looking up when someone walked in. You felt the bed sink slightly next to you as the person sat down. Suddenly two strong arms wrapped around you. One flesh. One metal. They pulled you onto Bucky's lap. You looked up at him your cheeks still a little pink from blushing.

"Hey," He said and lifted your chin. "What was Nat talking about downstairs?" He asked brushing your hair out of your eyes. He smiled softly and looked at you with his eyes full of curiosity. You mumbled something and he shook his head. "I didn't hear that." 

You meet his eyes. "She was talking about my feelings for you. Since the day I came here I have had a pretty big crush on you. I never really planned on telling you. I didn't figure you would feel the same. I'm not anything special. I can't fight very well." You said looking at him with hurt in your eyes. You searched his eyes for a reaction and you didn't know how to respond when he leaned in and kissed you softly and sweetly. 

When he pulled back you looked at him confused. "I think you are something special. I don't care if you can fight. And I feel the same way about you. I have since the first day as well. I just didn't want to push you if you weren't ready. I would like to be more than just your friend but I wont push you into anything if you don't want it." He said and stroked your cheek with his thumb. 

You leaned into it and smiled softly. "I would love to be more than just your friend Bucky. I've always wanted that." You leaned forward and kissed him. He pulled you close and kissed you deeper. Pulling back you said. "Hey, I know its early in the morning but is it ok if we go back to bed? You can stay here with me if you want." 

He smiled and nodded. Standing up with you in his arms he pulled the covers back and set you down then climbed in next to you. He pulled you into his arms and kissed your forehead. "Would you like to be my girlfriend y/n?" He asked as you snuggled into his chest. You smiled and said "I would like noting more than to be able to call you my boyfriend." Slowly you both fell back asleep.
