[ Episode 02 - Mission: Failed ]

Third POV

"Jay, at least tell me why you're pushing me back from the mission," Keni whispers as the boy with blonde hair places his jacket on.

The other five teenagers got inside the van, leaving behind the two friends by the front door. 

Jay sighs and finally looks at Keni. 

He remembers the first day they met and how he instantly felt responsible for her. 

He cannot let anything bad happen to Keni. So he decides to lie instead of telling her the truth.

"Keni, there are just some missions that some of us can do and cannot do," He explains as calmly as he could.

But the 18-year-old girl raises her left eyebrow and snaps at him, "Is it because I don't have abilities like everyone else?"

Jay knew that she would get it right away. 

No matter how many times he hides it from her or lies about the real reasons. 

He brushes back his hair and looks down at their shoes. Matching Adidas. 

He remembers that one time when he wanted to get something for Keni's 15th birthday. He bought her black-and-white Adidas shoes and Keni was happy that she got a gift from him, but insisted to get him something as well since she was more of a giver and not a receiver. So on his birthday, she got him the same kind of Adidas shoes that he got for her. Since then on every mission that they have, Jay has always worn those shoes thinking that it was his lucky charm. 

"If Keni wore the same shoes, then does that mean that nothing bad will happen to her?" He thought while looking back at her chocolate brown eyes. 

"Please, let me join this mission, Jay..." Keni pleads again, making him mentally groan in frustration.

And so he gave in. 

After all, how can he not say no to her? 

She has always been his partner in every mission. He should just make sure that Keni wouldn't get into trouble.

"Just stay where I can see you, okay?" Jay blurts out, feeling mixed emotions as he sees his best friend smiling at him.

"Don't worry too much about me, bluebird," Keni replies back using an old nickname of his to reassure him as she patted his shoulder and walks over to the van where everyone was waiting for them.

Jay looks up at the blue sky and spots a familiar butterfly flying around. While walking over to the van's shotgun seat, he wonders where he saw that butterfly before.

"I don't understand," Niki speaks up in irritation. "Why does Keni noona get to join when back in the house Jay said that she was pushed back from today's mission?"
