I took a deep breath, and ran a hand through my hair. I tried not to let my voice tremble, but it did anyways a bit. “After you all left yesterday, after I had been walking for a while, I- I couldn’t find them, and eventually I was entirely lost. These two men, one offered me his map...” I looked down, avoiding his gaze and keeping my voice low. “Well. They followed me and…” I took another breath, the event flashing in my memory again. The alley. He grabbed me, he held me. The darkness. “I got away, before... But I- I almost… Do you really need me to say all of this?”
He stared at me, eyes wide and angry. With them, or with me, I wasn’t sure. I felt a flush creep to my cheeks. Then slowly, solemnly, Tristan shook his head.
“Don’t tell Bradley,” I told him.
“Don’t tell Bradley what?”
I gave him a look.
Tristan stared at me, attempting to regain indifference. “Why not?”
“I- I don’t want him, or anyone really, to worry.”
He scratched his chin and let out a laugh. “It’s a little too late for that.” When I didn’t respond again, he turned around, but before he could take a step, I grabbed his wrist.
“Are you going to tell him?”
Tristan looked down at where my fingers encircled his skin, surprise and fascination on his features. I realized I was still holding it and flushed with embarrassment, releasing my grip.
“No,” he said. “But you have to know, I’m not the only one making assumptions. I think Brad should know, but I won’t tell him. If it’s that important to you.”
“It is.”
“Well then,” he gave me a small smile. “Your secret is safe with me.”
I let out a breath of relief.
If only things were ever that simple.
I'm not sure why I split it into two parts, but, yeah, sorry this is so short! Thank you so much for reading, I very very much appreciate it.
