“Oh my god, it’s the Vamps!”
“Are you serious?! Where?”
“Down there!”
“Oh my god, holy shit, it’s Bradley Simpson!”
The boys all looked startled, but not entirely surprised. Me, on the other hand, had no idea what to do with myself.
“What’s going on?” My voice came from nowhere, sounding entirely panicked. Were they runaways too? Were the authorities looking for them? That wouldn’t make sense. Did they know those people? It didn’t seem like it… No.Who were these boys?
Unfortunately, I didn’t get the chance to ask.
“Crap,” the smallest one said. “We need to go. Now. Tris, James...”
“I’m still so fucking confused,” Tristan said, annoyed. “And I’m not in the mood for this.”
“Wait what isgoing on? Who are those people?” To think they had been so confused with me earlier, and me with Bradley, and now this… My head almost couldn’t take it.
He ignored Tristan, and he ignored me. “Well suck it up. Let’s roll.”
And so all of them but Bradley pushed past me, exiting the alley immediately.
I started after them, curious of the commotion, but Brad drew me back. “Gabrielle,” he said quickly. “Exit immediately. I don’t want you in there, with those people, involved in this.”
I narrowed my eyes. Who did he think he was, telling me what and what not to do? I didn’t care who he was, but no one, not my foster families or Nia or Jared, or even the police, controlled me. I thought about telling him off, but decided against it. Instead, I simply asked, “Why?”
“Because people are going to ask questions, and they’re going to want to know who you are. That cannot happen. I can see the doubt in your eyes, but believe me, if you don’t listen, you’ll regret it.”
“Bradley!Oh my god!TheVamps- ConnorIloveyousomuch- Tristancanyousignthis- Jamescomeoverhere- where’sBrad?!”
Bradley let out a hiss, and ran his fingers through his hair impatiently. “I have to go,” he said. “I’m glad I finally got to see you, Gabrielle, however odd the circumstances.”
I opened my mouth, but he cut me off before words came out. “And keep in mind that London can be dangerous, especially for… Well, call me if you need to,” he said, and then joined his friends, leaving me alone in the alley, not knowing what to do next.
