Coffee Day

It was cold outside. The leaves rustled as the breeze passed through the air. Small droplets of rain passed through the leaves, coating the ground with a thin layer of water.

There was a new cafe near the outskirts of town which had opened up not long ago. From what Jesse could tell, there was always a crowd waiting and the place seemed busy. She had actually been planning to visit but decided against it as she didn't want to cause trouble if she was spotted.

Today was one of the days where she would have nothing scheduled. It was a day she could spend all to herself, without having to worry about anything. Today she planned to give the cafe a try.

Light rain passed as the sun shyly peeked out from behind the clouds. It was past 1 PM. This was usually a busy time, but she noticed there were fewer people outside today. It only made things easier for Jesse.

Jesse knew she couldn't leave wearing her usual attire. She found a black coat hanging on a chair and pulled it on. She was relieved that it wasn't too big for her, and it looked natural. It perfectly covered her brightly coloured shirt. She tied her hair up into a ponytail instead of leaving it down.

She didn't spend too long selecting what pants to wear. Deciding on the first pair of long pants she found, she went to check if there was anything else she needed. Digging through the drawers, she found a black face mask that matched with her coat. After putting it on, she went over to her full body mirror, which sat in a corner of the room.

A pair of brown eyes stared back at her, the only visible part of her face. Nobody would be able to recognise her, right?

She made sure to grab her phone and her wallet before she left. The cafe was less than 10 minutes away - much closer than Jesse had thought. She planned to buy the drink and go before anyone spotted her.

"Welcome!" A friendly voice rang through the air as soon as Jesse stepped in.

There weren't a lot of people today, so it wasn't a long wait before Jesse was able to order. She spent a few moments looking over what they had to offer. They had a range of different flavours of tea and coffee. There were also some breakfast options, but Jesse didn't want to stay for too long.

The place seemed clean and well taken care of. There was a rich coffee aroma mixed with vanilla, giving the place a calming feeling.

"Hi there!" the cashier gave Jesse a friendly smile, and Jesse would have reciprocated it if she wasn't wearing the mask. "What would you like to order?"

"I'd like a vanilla coffee, please," she said.

The cashier nodded and typed in an amount of money. "Anything else?"

Jesse thought about it for a moment. "No, thanks."

"Coming right up! By the way, has anyone ever told you that you look a bit like Jesse from the New Order of the Stone?"

Jesse definitely wasn't expecting that. "Uh, no, not really... I'm uh, just a fan," she replied awkwardly.

Despite her awful acting skills, the cashier miraculously seemed to buy it. "I see," she replied, nodding. "The New Order of the Stone is so popular nowadays."

Jesse only nodded, not knowing what else to say.

"Oh! Your coffee will be ready in a moment." Jesse sighed a breath of relief when the cashier had left. Her heart hammered wildly in her chest.

"That was close..." she mumbled to herself.

"Excuse me," she heard a voice behind her. "By any chance, are you Jesse from the New Order of the Stone?"
