Consolation 🌸

Anirudh sat down on the floor leaning towards the door. "Pati babu", a voice echoed in the study which brought a wide smile on his face. He slowly opened his eyes and saw Bondita in front of him. He could see his old Bondita sitting on the sofa, wearing a red saree with light jewellery, her long hair tied into a bun with the pallu on her head. "Bo...Bondita", he murmured smiling. "Pati babu aaj mujhe aapse apne sawaalo ka jawab chahiye. Kya aap denge mere saare prashno ke uttar?" "Haan haan Bondita", said Anirudh nodding his head. "Aapne dusra vivah kyu kiya pati babu? Kya mujhse koi bhul ho gayi thi jo aapne mujhe itni badi sazaa di.", asked Bondita in a mild tone. "Nahi Bondita. Maine jo kuch bhi kiya woh sab sirf tumhare liye kiya, tumhari bhalai ke liye kiya. Tumhare pati babu kabhi tumhare saath galat kar sakte hai kya?", asked Anirudh with a sad smile.
"Main bhi yehi maanti thi ki aap kabhi mere saath galat nahi kar sakte. Par aapne mujhe ussi din galat saabit kar diya tha jis din aapne Manorama ji se vivah kiya.", replied Bondita. Surprisingly she didn't even shed tears. "Nahi Bondita mera vishwaas karo maine yeh sab majboori mein kiya hai. Main sirf yehi chahta tha ki tum apni padhai par dhyaan do. Mera irada tumhe dard dene ka nahi tha.", said Anirudh while crying silently. "Irada sahi tha lekin tareeka galat tha aapka Barrister Babu.", shouted Bondita as she went and stood near the window. "Main tumhe sahi raaste pe lane ki koshish mein itna kho gaya ki maine jaane anjane mein tumhare iss nanhe se dil ko tod diya. Mujhe maaf kardo Bondita." "Aap mujhse ek baar baat toh kar sakte the na...mujhe samjhate toh main samajh jaati par aapne kya kiya, aapne mujhse mera sab kuch cheen liya...meri khushiyan, mere adhikaar, sab kuch. Aapne ek hasti khelti Bondita ko pathar bana diya. Jis Bondita ki zindagi mein khushiyan thi, apne ussi Bondita ki zindagi ko dukh se bhar diya. Barrister Anirudh Roy Choudhury aapne mujhe kya tohfa diya. Iss tohfe ko main chahkar bhi nahi bhul sakti. Aap aaj sab kuch haar gaye Mr. Roy Choudhury. Aaj aapne apne saath saath mujhe bhi hara diya. Aapko pata hai aapne mujhe ek bohot hi zaroori paath padha diya -- Kabhi kisipe aankh band karke vishwaas nahi karna chahiye. Warna baadme wahi insaan apke vishwaas ke saath saath aapko bhi tod deta hai." "Nahi!!" He was hallucinating. "Kaha gayi Bondita.", he started searching for her but couldn't find her. He started throwing all the books, the vase & the typewriter.

"Anirudh, beta darwaaza khol", Kaka shouted when he heard the sound of the glass vase breaking. "Nahi Kaka", he cried but Kaka, being adamant kept on asking him to open the door. Unable to keep calm, he went and opened the door. "Kya hai Kaka?", he asked loudly surprising Kaka. He had never behaved like this with him. But when he peeped into the room, his facial expression changed. He looked at Anirudh with widened eyes. "Yeh kya haal bana rakha hai Anirudh?" "Kaka mujhe thodi der ke liye akela chod dijiye.", saying this he went and sat on the sofa, holding the pillow close to his chest. Kaka carefully walked into the study and sat down beside him. "Ab tu itna bada ho gaya hai ki apne Kaka se baatein chupane laga hai?", asked Trilochan placing his hand on his. Anirudh looked at him with teary eyes. "Main sirf uska bhala chahta tha par sab kuch ulta ho gaya.", he cried as he placed his head on his Kaka's lap. "Manorama ne mujhe sab sach bata diya hai. Beta jo tune kiya woh Bondita bahu ke bhalai ke liye kiya aur yeh main manta hu. Tera irada galat nahi tha. Par tera tareeka galat tha. Par beta tune jaane anjane mein uss choti si bachhi ko bohot chot pahunchaya hai. Uske nanhe se, masoom se dil ko toda hai. Ek hasti khelti, tark kutark karne waali Bondita ko tune ek patthar dil aur khedpurna Bondita bana diya hai. Ab tuhi soch kaise thik karega sab kuch.", said Trilochan. He was well aware of Anirudh's feelings and genuinely wanted to help him get back the "raunak" of the haweli. "Tu jaa aur bata de Bahu ko sab sach. Bata de usse ki tune jo bhi kiya uske liye kiya. Bata de usse ki teri aur Manorama ki shaadi jhooti thi aur tune usse koi dhoka nahi diya hai. Mujhe pura vishwaas hai ki Bondita bahu teri baat ko samjhegi bhi aur tujhe maaf bhi kar degi.", said Kaka smiling and patting his head. "Par Kaka kya Bondita manegi? Maine usse kitna dukh diya hai, kitna sataya hai. Kya woh mujhe maaf karegi?" "Agar sachhe mann se maafi mangega toh zaroor maaf karegi. Aur hum jante hai apni Bahu ko. Woh zyada der tak tujhse nazar reh sakti hai kya?", said Trilochan smiling. Anirudh smiled hearing this. "Toh ab tu jaa aur jaldi bahu ko apne ghar wapas le aa. Jaa." "Ji Kaka", saying this Anirudh ran out of the study. "Bahu ko jaldi ghar lekar aana. Hum intezaar kar rahe hai.", Kaka shouted smiling widely. ,"Hey Durga Maa hum  yehi chahte hai ki humare bachhe khush rahe.", Kaka prayed.

"Chodi Huyi Aurat hai yeh. Isse jeene ka koi haq nahi. Mar do isse.", a man from the mob shouted. "Dekhiye main koi chodi hui Aurat nahi hu aur naa hi mere pati ne mujhe choda hai.", the girl replied boldly which irked the villagers. "Achha agar tumhare pati ne tumhe nahi choda toh tum apne maike mein kyu ho? Tumhe toh apne sasural mein hona chahiye.", said one woman. "Aapki bhalai isi mein hai ki aap yaha se chale jaiye.", said the girl. "Aur tumhari bhalai isi mein hai ki tum humari baat chup chap sunno warna humare pass aur kai tareeke hai apni baat manwaneka.", another woman said. "Nahi main aapki baat nahi manungi.", said the girl and was about to turn when two women came and held her hands tightly. "Kya kar rahe hai aap. Chodiye mujhe.", said the girl as she winced in pain. "Aaj tera marna tay hai.", saying this the women started dragging the girl and at last pushed her to the ground. "RUKO!!", a strong voice stopped them. "Agar kisine isse haath bhi lagaya toh mujhse bura koi nahi hoga.", shouted the young man.
