Charlie shifted in his chair, wincing as his binder dug into his sides and almost brought tears to his eyes. His head was fuzzy, but whether it was the pain or want to slip he wasn't sure. He knew he shouldn't have it on for so long - this was about his 12th hour with it on - but he couldn't help it. In Charlie's opinion, the pain was better than the alternative. Apparently he zoned out much longer than he'd thought, because the next thing he knew he could hear Schlatt calling his name."-lie? Charlie! You good, man?"
Charlie shook his head to try and clear the fuzz before plastering on a smile; "Y-Yeah, I'm fine."
They were about to start streaming for the day, but Charlie really didn't feel like it. He knew Schlatt could tell, but still tried to hold his fake smile in hopes that maybe he wouldn't notice the bags under his eyes or the fact that he was near tears at this point.
"Don't lie to me, Charlie," Schlatt said in a warning tone, not mean but definitely stern. This scolding, almost parental tone made Charlie's smile waver, fuzziness creeping up on him further.
"I's f-fine, Slatt!" He pouted, words slurring as he unknowingly slipped further. He fiddled with his fingers, and it took Schlatt a minute to process the behavior cues. When he finally did, it clicked. He's a little.
Now, Schlatt had some experience with littles - Wilbur regressed on occasion, so he knew how to read the signs - but he never even guessed that Charlie may've been the same. Schlatt did know one thing; he couldn't leave him alone.
"Alright, stay where you are," he instructed, grabbing his jacket and throwing it over his shoulders. "I'll be 'round in a few."
Charlie tried to protest, but a twinge in his ribs shut him up. True to his word, Schlatt arrived at his front in just five minutes, and he didn't hesitant to open the door himself and call out for Charlie. The little waddled out from his recording room, immediately wrapping his arms around Schlatt and hiding in his chest. The brunet held his arms up awkwardly for a few seconds before reciprocating the hug, but he clearly squeezed too tight as Charlie whined and sniffled.
"You okay, kiddo?" Schlatt asked worriedly, holding in a hiss of pain as Charlie's glasses dug into his skin. Thankfully, he pulled away from the hug, but this only let Schlatt see the tears sparkling in his eyes.
"R-Ribs...huwt," he whimpered, tugging at the hem of his shirt. Schlatt's eyebrows furrowed.
"Your ribs hurt?" Charlie nodded, and Schlatt nodded back in understanding. "Can you show me why, sunshine?"
The blond lifted his shirt up to show his binder digging into his sides, and Schlatt blinked. Well, that was the second thing he learned about Charlie that day. Kissing the top of his head, Schlatt smiled softly.
"How about we get that off and watch some cartoons, hm?" He suggested, frowning when Charlie shook his head. "Why not?"
"Den-Den I won' be w-weal boy!" He cried. Schlatt nearly felt his heart break, and was quick to comfort him.
"Oh, sunshine, you're always a real boy," he assured him, hugging him gently to prove his point. "You're my little boy, no matter what you think."
"W-Weally?"
"Of course, sunshine."
