PART I OF ASHES: WASHING MACHINE HEART

Baby, bang it up inside

...
2 years later
...

Shes 18 now, finally it being her birthday.

She laughed and smiled at the Avengers.

"Congrats, Lady Wanda." Thor had bellowed, placing a hand on her shoulder.

She had smiled at his kind words.

She couldn't believe it had been almost 2 years since her home was destroyed.

And the fact that Pietro should be there broke her heart.

She didn't want to speak about him-she didn't want to ruin the birthday party Stark threw for her, so she tries not to think about it.

That doesn't work out.

...

She did believe it would just be the Avengers and anyone considered close.

She wasn't one for big parties.

She didn't know what it stemmed from; she didn't have an explanation for it.

So when people she didn't know showed up, she just stood, talking to Natasha.

"I thought this was supposed to be a small party?" Wanda asks, picking at the bar.

"You know Stark. And you also know that you can leave if you don't feel well. Nobody will hold you against it, you know." Natasha says, looking at the witch.

"No, no, it's fine. I'll be fine."

...

She was fine, which was good.

It still showed that she still hated big parties, but she was fine when she was able to talk to Loki and Stephen Strange about it.

"I still can't control my powers." She mutters as she sits on her bed, looking at the two magic users above her.

They just stare at her, neither knowing what to say.

"I still think that they're scared of me." She mumbles. "I'm not surprised. Not even I know the limits of my power. I'm the Scarlet Witch, but I don't even understand my powers in the slightest. Stupid HYDRA."

They just look at her, and Strange starts running a comforting hand over her own.

"We should get going. We'll see you tomorrow, okay?"

She nods silently, and the two leave.

She runs her hand through her hair, before tying behind her in a tight ponytail behind her head.

She pulled on what she usually wore; a dark shirt with a dark skirt and thigh high socks, not caring to pull on shoes.

She didn't need them; she wasn't going out that day.

She knew that today, they wouldn't be doing anything.

Hopefully.

Of course, nothing works out how she wants it to.

...

"Wands!" She hears Tony call out, as she sits on her bed, scrolling through the channels on her TV.

She looks at the direction of his voice. "What?!" She yells back, dropping the remote.

"We have a new member of the team!" He yells in reply. "So get your ass down here!"

She huffs and rolls her eyes, pulling her hair out of the ponytail that had been hurting her head, and decided not to change.

It wasn't like anyone would be looking at her body, which she was grateful for.

...

"Wanda," Steve greets her as she enters the room that they're in. "glad to have you."

"I was called." She said with a light smile, her accent slurring the words slowly together.

Natasha had been helping her work on it, to try and cover it up on missions, but she didn't have to at the Avengers compound.

She tried to conceal it, but she was tired so she made no effort to.

Tony coughs before speaking.

"Shall we get down it business?" He asks, and Wanda nods her head slightly. "As you may know already, we have a new member of the team. James Bucky Barnes."

And he steps out, a metal arm, his hair long, and Wanda knows she stops breathing.

"Bucky?" She whispers desperately.

"Wanda?" He asks in the same tone. "Oh my god, Wanda. I thought you were dead!"

She doesn't know she's embracing him until she feels his metal arm around her body.

"How do you two know each other?" Steve asks, and the others look equally surprised.

"HYDRA." Wanda replies, and backs off from the hug. "It's good to see you, James."

"You aswell, Maximoff."
