Shock My Love! ( An Ace Frehley/Tommy Thayer Love Story)

Chapter 1-MTV Unplugged Performance, at first, we meet (Tommy Thayer POV)

Where do I begin? Once upon a time is far to cliché here.... I suppose I should start by saying the year is 1995 and for the last 3 years I have been the manager of Kiss. So, in other words since the Revenge era. How that had come about was circa 84'/85, I was in a band called Black 'n' Blue and Gene Simmons had taken us under his wing, we'd gotten signed etc. Which led to my now old band opening shows for Kiss and led for me into friendships with all the current members of the band at the time. And around 1992, Kiss decided to replace their manager, who by the way was a total douchebag with me since they knew me, and I had experience and all that rock & Roll Jazz. So here I am, here we are.... (hmm, those would make good song lyrics), anyway the band decided to do an unplugged performance of Kiss classics on MTV, which of course I handled all the logistics and all that jazz.... what I didn't expect is who ELSE would show up.

"Tom, dude are you zoning out again?", one of my best friends and current drummer of Kiss Eric Singer asks me.

"Eric, huh?", the most articulate response I could give now. Eric shakes his head. Speaking of which the other Eric is also here backstage. Eric Carr or I should say Eric Carr-Stanley who is married obviously to one Paul Stanley and they have two kids together. Fox had cancer several years ago and very nearly died due to it, but he is still here today and cancer-free and the kids had come after he'd finally beat cancers ass. But He and Paul had fallen in love at first sight way back in 1980 and are still very much in love today.

"Tommy can't have the manager zoning out so much can we?", Bruce chuckled from his spot sitting next to his husband: one Gene Simmons. Gene who has his hands on Bruce's baby bump and speaking of said baby bump...Bruce is 4 months pregnant and him and Gene are having a girl.

"Whatever dude..." I mutter as I take my leave making sure everything is all set up and as it should be...when I hear some REMARKABLY familiar laughter and suddenly, I find myself bumping into the owner of said laughter and well holy shit! It's Ace freaking Frehley!

"Whoa there Curly! You, ok? Guess neither of us were watching where we were going.", Ace cackles that signature laugh of his. Why did I have to literally run into my idol and the man I have a huge crush on? He's the reason I got into playing guitar and all in the first place and oh god, please don't notice my blush. Ace is older and a little bit stockier than he was back in the day, with laugh lines around his warm earthy brown eyes but he is still a damned good-looking man.

"Ah hey, uh...sorry. Just checking on things to make sure everything is going smoothly. Oh, geez I'm Tommy Thayer Kiss' manager.", I hold out my hand for him to shake and...is my face red?

Ace's smile widens, "Nice to meet ya curly! I'm Ace obviously!". He cackles shaking my hand and I feel sparks from his touch...oh MY! "Didn't they tell ya? I'm here to do unplugged and sit in at some point during the show."

Wait? What? When did....and then it hits me...? I vaguely recall it being tossed around but never expected it to happen and hold the phone.... Ace hasn't played Kiss music in well over a decade and how the hell will he do this?

"Oh yeah, I remember now...", I say slowly. "How..." I trail off and Ace sensing my unspoken question gives his answer...

"Nah I don't know the parts, but uh well I've listened repeatedly to the old stuff on CD and all until I think I can play eh ok....cheated on the test so to speak.", Ace's eyes crinkling before suddenly they harden and I see why....Peter Criss....Uh-oh, there's quite a history there, we will get into that later though, but let's just say there's bad blood between them.

"Fuck, Pete's here too? That I didn't know...Guess I'll see him out there." Ace sighs heavily before turning back to me, "Nice to meet ya Tommy...see ya out there." Ace waves before walking off and I find myself alone before I make a beeline straight back to where I'd originally come from, my heart pounding.... What would come with all members past and present of Kiss all on stage together? And as for Ace? Well, I have no freaking clue about him.... I push the feelings and thoughts I'm having aside as once more I enter the dressing room I started out in.
