Soothing Shower

Every one knew and loved Martha and her husband, Joey. They had lived in the city of Spinesville for over seventy years and did many things to help the city grow and prosper. They received many metals and awards representing each great deed: cleaning up the park, helping the disabled and poor, and putting up more stop signs around the neighborhood, making it safer for the young children that played in the streets. Yes, Martha and Joey had lived a full life and had done many great things.

The only problem was their age. Joey was eighty-four and Martha was eighty-eight, and both of them were hard of hearing.

"Joey, did you take out the trash?" Martha yelled over the very loud television.

"You told me to take out the trash?" Joey yelled back.

"I told you a half hour ago!"

"Well I didn't hear you woman!"

"Take out the trash now please!"

Joey scratched his balding head and said,"What did you say?"

Martha sighed and muttered,"Every damn time." She rose up out of her chair and screeched at Joey,"TAKE OUT THE DAMN TRASH AND WHILE YOUR AT IT, TURN OFF THE TELEVISION AND GET OFF YOUR BUTT!!"

Joey immediately turned off the tv and almost jumped out of his recliner. "Yes, Ma'am."

This happened at least three times a week but despite every outburst, they still loved each other to death.

One morning in the summer, Martha felt a sharp pain in her chest bit thought nothing of it. She thought that she was perfectly healthy and the pain was probably indigestion. Or maybe it was heart burn. To soothe herself, Martha decided to take a nice cool shower. Showers always seemed to calm her down and make her feel better.

"Joey, I'm taking a shower so if you want breakfast, you'd better make it yourself,"Martha said to her husband.

Joey nodded and said,"Yes dear, and be careful. I don't want you to slip."

"I won't." Martha walked down the hall of their house to the bathroom. On the way she grabbed her fluffy pink bathrobe and her towels to dry herself off.

Martha turned on the shower and began to hum her favorite song, Amazing Grace, as she climbed inside. The gripping on the bottom of the tub made it impossible to slip so she didn't concern herself with slipping. No way that could happen, she thought to herself.

Suddenly, another sharp pain occurred in her chest, one that was stronger that before. Martha gripped her bare chest. Suddenly she didn't fell so good. The normally soothing water suddenly felt like sharp, rusty nails beating into her skin. Martha began to panic as she realized what was happening. Martha shoved the shower down open so forcefully that she knocked down her fluffy robe on the floor. As she was quickly stepping out, her foot was placed on her fluffy robe...

And then she slipped and hit her head on the floor of the shower. Martha's lifeless body clogged the drain of the shower, so the water began to overflow and spill out of the tub.

Joey began to think his wife had been in the shower for too long so he decided to go and check on her. But for some reason, an uneasy feeling rolled over his body like a wave of nausea. The bathroom at the end of the hall cast an ominous glow down the hallway. Joey slowly walked down the hallway because that was the only speed he could go.

When he reached the door, Joey suddenly stood in a puddle of water. He stared down at it and began to worry.

He opened the door and made more water spill out.

"Martha?"

==================================

I am so sorry if I made anyone offended by this story. Heart attacks are very serious and are nothing to joke about. But I just wanted to put some kind of awareness out there. Even if you think your perfectly healthy and nothing is wrong with you, you should still get check ups from the doctor. It might save your life from cancer or a heart attack.

Alright peace out my peoples! :p
