When I came to, the guy with the hoodie was gone. The TV was off and my flashlight was on, which was weird because I could've sworn it wasn't working. Then I remembered Darren and Jenna screaming (what Darren calls manly yelling) so I got up quickly and bolted out of the room. When I reached the stairway, a door was blocking my way down. I tugged and pulled but no use. I just couldn't open the damn door.

"Darren! Jenna! Can you hear me?!"

It was sickeningly quiet for a few minutes when they didn't respond. Then someone shouted,"Mark? Is that you?" It was Darren!

"Darren! Thank God your still here. Where's Jenna?"

"I don't know!"

"What the hell do you mean!?" I shouted. If something happened to Jenna, I don't know what I would do.

"We went into the kitchen and there was a weird guy with a mask on staring at us. He started to say that the key was in the basement..."

"And the answer in the attic, yeah I know,"I interrupted. "A guy with a hoodie told me the same thing."

"So what do you think we should do?"

I thought about our situation for a moment. If Darren went to the basement, he would maybe find the key, if the two guys were telling the truth. But it was dark in the basement so even of the key was in there, he wouldn't be able to see it. But if I went to the attic I would need the flashlight to see. Unless, of course, I used the nightvision on the camera.

"Darren, I'm throwing my flashlight down the hole so you can see in the basement."

"Alright, but how do you know that I don't have my flashlight still?"

I sighed. "Do you have your flashlight?"

"....no."

"Just take the damn flashlight." I threw it down the hole and then said,"if you find Jenna, just shout up the hole so I know."

Darren called out,"Okay, but be carefull!"

I heard him walk away. I thought about what would happen if I went into the attic. What if I never came back home? I shook off that thought. I was going home and so was Jenna. And what the hell, Darren would too.

I held the camera to my face, since it was my only source of light. It was weird, everything looked so different through the camera. Instead of hallways containing many bedrooms, there was only one, leading into the attic. Wait a minute... This WAS real!! How did the entire structure of the third floor change in mere minutes? This was way too weird. I needed to check out the attic and get the hell out.

I opened the attic door and pulled the ladder down. It was old, splintery, and looked like it couldn't support my weight. But I just had to find out the answer to all of this craziness. I took a deep breath and started up the ladder.
